Every cooler thread, the guys with Yeti say there isnt anything better, the guys without Yetis say they have XYZ cooler that works just as good or better then Yeti....its all your preference, I personally refuse to have a hard sided cooler on my boat, so I run two softsided AO's that fit right behind the seats...when we go to the desert, I have an old coleman that I use, and a daily ice run is part of the fun...kid and I load up, go to Blu In, ice cream for him, tall can for me, people watch for a bit, then back to camp with ice....

Maybe it’s who you talk too, I don't know. I have 3 large AO coolers hanging in my garage because they leak. I now have Yeti 45 and 2 of the Yeti Roadie 24's. I love them.
Send them in. They will replace the liners with the new improved one that they now come with. They do charge $15 each for return shipping. You can also drop them off in person if you are local to Corona.

I have 2 igloo. One is a thick wall that’s just for ice , meat, vodka. Normal chest for drinks etc. a weekend in th e desert and I always bring ice home. All in under a hundy.
volume will overcome insulating value from what I've learned.

Like on the boat where space is a concern the thick ones with small volume being opened and closed all day don't do as well as thinner walled with high volume of ice.

Just buy a case of these at Costco and freeze a bunch of them and throw them in with the ice and drinks. It will last all weekend and the kids like them when they’re melting. Works in the cheep coolers too.

RTIC - made in China.
YETI - made in the Philippines.

If you want to buy American, and you should, go with Maluna Coolers.
They are in Baxter Minnesota.

Depends what Yeti cooler you are buying. My Tundra was made in the USA.

Just going to leave this here on Canyon.

  1. Since 2011, We’ve been building, learning, and refining our premium cooler designs.
  2. Throughout the years our coolers have won awards and mentions and consistently rank at the top of just about every ice-retention test we’ve been included in.
  3. Based in Flagstaff, Arizona - the jumping-off point for most Grand Canyon rafting trips and epic elk hunts. The brutal Arizona Deserts and the epic Colorado River climate is baked into our DNA.
  4. There’s no other premium cooler company in the world that matches our lifetime, no-hassle warranty. We believe in the quality of our products, and more importantly, because we believe in the value of connection and family.
  5. All of our coolers are purpose built for how you use a cooler - not to make them easier to manufacture.
  6. We are purpose built, we have a long history of supporting dozens and dozens of conservation projects around hunting, rivers, and more. Including Arizona Elk Society, Arizona Game and Fish, Grand Canyon Youth, and Tread Lightly.
  7. We like to have fun ! That slightly reckless, extra puckish, and a little irreverent kind.

It may not be the best and is actually a little smaller than i wanted but i just got an 32QT Ultra-Light from RTIC as a suggestion from someone that they fit the fiberglass boxes in most boats. Fit perfect as well.

I got a random Coleman or igloo something er rather ice chest.

Sits next on the water cooled logs and snails. Not exactly a cool spot.

Ice lasts all day.

End of cruise, don't be surprised by a frosty frozenish cold beer.

Tomorrow, BGE. Beer, gas and ice.

Carry on.

If you open /close a cooler ice melts. If you restock with drinks, ice melts.

We boat 4 days at a time. 3 families with friends. We have a giant hardsided AO cooler(yeti style with seals and rubber pull downs.)

We use as drink cooler for entire group. Leave it on the houseboat. Load it day 1.empty it day 4. Drinks for 25 people over the 4th.108-112 degree all weekend. Heavy as hell when loaded.

Reload drinks every morning and some stuff (beer and seltzers 😂) twice a day. . Mpossible not to need ice.

I dont know your answer but i do know we bought the largest soft sided AO cooler and use it as an ice runner each morning. That cooler holds 2-20’s and thats how much ice we needed each day. Absolute game changer not having to wrap bags of ice in towels or life jackets and haul for the houseboat.

Food cooler is easy peasy.load n the morning. Lasts all day.
I have three AO coolers, they are almost 25 years old. Still work perfectly.
