7 years. It all stays in the tax file until it is no longer needed. Just in case iget questioned about the driving log or loss statements .

Having been thru a in depth audit, when you roll into thier office with a hand truck... theyreally don't like you.

Ours are electronically stored forever but we always put a "valid for acceptance ?/??/????" statement in the proposal. Sometimes clients will come back after a while and we will reprice or help them with scope change to get to their budget.

LOL

Usually about three years...

Ours are electronically stored forever but we always put a "valid for acceptance ?/??/????" statement in the proposal. Sometimes clients will come back after a while and we will reprice or help them with scope change to get to their budget.

Everything we do is saved to the server forever... however any hard copy documents are stored for 3 years.

Paper files and plans about 9 months. Never fails once I throw them away I get the job. Still have the electronic quotes for at least 2 years.

It's about five computers and at least one software change since original.
They're going to send me a copy.

They knew the price has gone up of course.
As general I end up with a top of paper just for a quote.

Most subs have a 90 day bid expiration.

How long do you keep your old bids?

Just got a call for a job I bid awhile ago, they're ready to go but want to know if the price has gone up.

I bid it 15 years ago.:rolleyes

I done a fairly large job off a 6 year old quote. What a nightmare that was.
All the drawings where way out, shit had changed.
The project manager had changed twice before it got off the ground. There where a few key guys that had moved on since the start of the job.
Had to put a hold on gear until they sorted out part payments.
All depends on the size of the job on how long u'd keep the quote.

Forever on a back-up external drive. That past information comes in handy. 3 years for the paper files, although I just purged & needed some files I threw out (that'll happen & it's not worth keeping 50 boxes of files stored in precious space).

Commercial Tile Contractor here

90 - 120 days when proposal is sent. Usually I can hold the price within a year. Plans/bid I now keep on electronic file on my remote hard drive forever

When it was all paper, I'd keep the plans for 2-3 years
