This version of Elon is awesome
That, and growing up Air Force brat, and working civilian DoD, when you go to 3 different schools in 2-3 different states almost every year until junior high it gets to be routine. LolThe nature of @was thatguy 's job helped him see the world, and bounce on to greener pastures.
I've never been far, so I envy those that have. Life is really a series of adventures, some small and some large. Being able to adapt and change can be a serious advantage. The only thing constant is change. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of that shortly. That, and growing up Air Force brat, and working civilian DoD, when you go to 3 different schools in 2-3 different states almost every year until junior high it gets to be routine. At 3 years old I was playing with phillipino kids outside of the housing compound at Clark AFB near Manilla.
(Sometimes they’d beat us up, sometimes they played nice)
By the time we moved to Alaska (about 10 years old) I’d lived in 3 countries and 6 states that I know of. When people ask me where I’m from I really don’t know how to accurately respond? Typically I say I’m from Alaska, but born in Mississippi.
So as an adult, having now been in 9 countries and every state and every Canadian province except the territories, moving around the country is not a big deal.
It’s how it’s always been for me.
My career since DoD has been oilfield, so I can sort of live where ever I choose? I have usually tried to centralize with work considerations, but not always.
I picked Shasta lake at 40 years old because I was tired of Alaska, and I knew every road trip I made I always liked the looks of the lake from the I-5 bridge.
So I took 2 months off, drove from Alaska to Cabo, spent 6 weeks on the beach at toto santos, then drove back to Alaska repacked my truck, and moved to Redding and rented a place at Jones Valley by the lake.
Couple years later I met Deb and the next 16 years became another slice of my life.
Now, I’m on to the next segment. Not sure how it’ll pan out but it is what I make of it. Tried Havasu for 4 years but didn’t buy there. I bought right up the road, but may end up in cutbank MT before it’s all done…who knows?
That’s just a small part of my adventure.
That’s sort of an explanation as to why I simply do not comprehend anyone being “stuck” anywhere.
I drive to Western Wy every 2 weeks now, I do it in one day each way. That’s my work commute.
Deb always said I should write a book, I’d always tell her “who the fuck would believe it?”
Then again, you know, I’ve never “lived my life” so I’m probably just full of shit.
I have good friends in Panama City Florida that are my age, and have never been further than Dothan Alabama.I've never been far, so I envy those that have. It's weird to me to stay so isolated. I'd like to see the world, but probably won't be able to. Certainly not for the foreseeable future. I worked with a guy that was born at 33rd and Avalon in LA. His first and only home was down the road Del Amo mall area...10 minutes away. At 40 years old, had been to Vegas and TJ...that's it.I have good friends in Panama City Florida that are my age, and have never been further than Dothan Alabama.
My lifelong friends (the ones still alive) are also almost all military brats and have been everywhere I have more or less.

Part of me still thinks Musk may be some James Bond type super villain. All his satellites are lower orbit, and he's putting up a ton of them. He may flip a switch someday that takes over every country's comms and all satellite mediaMake no mistake. At the end of the day Elon is going to do what’s best for Elon and he knows Biden is done. He is brown nosing Trump now. Trump will take all the endorsements he can get now but if he wins, he’s gonna do what’s best for Trump.
It’s all a big shot show and we’re just an audience. Enjoy it for now lol.
40 degrees cooler than my River pad currently. It's not for everyone. But it works for some. I couldn't work in construction elsewhere with the heat. I got a fan on me working and it's low 70s.
Last weekend had to do some work at the river pad. Truck was under a awning and I couldn't hold the tools I pulled out of my tool box. Same with tools from my shed. To hot to hold. Needed gloves or a cool wet towel to cool them off to use. My work trucks half the shit inside would go bad. Wax rings would melt, caulk, silicon would harden. Would have to buy a refrigerated box truck to work out of.
I get it. I lived with that great weather for 33 yrs. Is it hot here in south east Florida? Yep, but to me it doesn't bother me. I hate the cold. As far as tools, wax rings etc... I am sure people in AZ, FL, TX and other hot places have figured out how to deal with it.
I fell sorry for those that want to leave and can't due to family, job or what ever else. I say you only live once and go where you are happy.

Honestly, I never even thought about his daughter in the mix of all this. I think you're right though, he'd much rather be doing the mad scientist stuff than politicking.Elon is genuinely pissed because of one of his kids that was swindled into gender transitioning over this severe indoctrination bs in the schools. When this all went down is when he flipped the switch, what he previously thought was hyperbole turned out to be far more real than he imagined. I imagine he would have been far happier working on his rockets and staying quiet if this never happened.
If you followed his tweets over the last 2 years since buying twitter it unfolded slowly in real time. Endorsing Trump is just icing on the cake, he has been flatly rejecting Democrat policy publicly since then.

LolJesus - That's like an hour drive -
My kid lived in Cairo, GA riding dirtbikes the past 18 months - Needless to say, I drove thru Dothan often....
Did it just last weekend again.....
Only 240ish miles from my house but 231 sucks....

Lol
Motocross is the reason they’d go to Dothan.
Fuck CA. I wish I could move too, except I can’t move my job with me, I’d have to find a new one.
Reminds me of an old question or saying, "If your life was a book, would anybody want to read it ?"That, and growing up Air Force brat, and working civilian DoD, when you go to 3 different schools in 2-3 different states almost every year until junior high it gets to be routine. Lol
