Thinking of taking the crew to Dave and Busters....food drinks and games.

Another idea was axel throwing but can't find anyone with food and drink packages

I work remote for a major defense contractor. No party, no bonus, nothing for us.

In fact they want us to work.

Wife is in retail. They don’t shut down. My wife will be working x mas for payroll
I work for a Non Profit with 5000 employees. We may get this if we are lucky:

We have 60 employees. Roughly 15 office, 25 shop and 20 field installers.

Some years we go big and do a party at Dave and Busters with dinner, drinks and games. Usually do bonuses and raffle off like 10 gifts each worth about $300.

We had a good year this year but I'm feeling lazy or too busy with a lot on my plate so I'm taking the easy route which is our norm every other year. Taco truck on a Friday in early December. No gifts this year but that money will be put toward bigger bonuses.

It seems like employees are never happy .
What ever they get they want more .

I’m tried of the party’s and bonus that I feel obligated to do . Fuck it

Hmmmmm, what you're saying makes a lot of sense.

Where are you at?
Brewery X in Anaheim might work.
There is also a BBQ place called Sauced in El Segundo that has private outside areas with Botche ball and ax throwing inside.

Not sure on packages.

Where’s the cocaine fueled orgy stories?
HR and Lawsuits ended a lot of that lol

Last company I was with in HI had multiple subsidiaries. I was the director of one, we all answered to an E-team/board.

Due to multiple settlements over the years (one director had 2 kids by two different assistants who both got a payout…), anyone with a manager/director title or above had to leave by 730ish, two drink max (violating either of these resulted in a minimum of an ass chewing from the chairman if not termination). Screwing your subordinates was instant termination since it had already cost the company a ton of money…

Upper level always had an after party which were alcohol fueled shit shows, and usually ended with at least some ending up at a strip club. They started renting a bus after one of the guys got a dui for sleeping in his running truck in front of Femme Nu on Kapiolani…

We do it at our shop. Get everybody a hotel room down the street or pay for their Uber and do a Casino night, 4 black jack tables,1 roulette and 1 craps table. I buy 100 or so gift cards to various stores (HD, Lowes, Taco Bell, Nordstroms, PINK, etc),have a bunch of $10, $20 and $100 bills in my pocket and get a bunch of electricians hand tools and call out different winning hands to win them... Next pair of Queens, next black jack, next hard 8, etc. Gets everybody playing and actually winning tools/money/gift cards. Have a full bar and usually a local Mexican restaurant cater it. Close to the end of the night we call each guy up (25ish +/- employees) on stage and say something good about what they did all year (some guys thats hard, hahaha). Hand them a card with cash bonus and a gift which is usually a company jacket/hoodie in a duffle bag or ice chest.. something like that. We invite a bunch of the PMs/Supers and clients/customers we work with also. The guys and their families seem to really appreciate it and its a great time.

With the holidays fast approaching its that time of year where the eggnog starts flowing and the ugly sweaters make their annual appearance. For those of you that are business owners and those of you that are employees what are the new Norms nowadays

Are white elephants/ secret Santa's still a thing?

Do you give /get bonuses?

Are holiday parties a big event anymore?

Share some of the best and the worst experiences you've had at your holiday party.

Did all stated over the years. Best and most interesting "exchange" I came up with: Draw names, keep it a secret. Find a toy that reminds you of the person you drew, wrap toy. All toys are opened with all present. Hopefully all are open to laughter. At the end, all toys are donated. FYI, I drew a party girl shopper employee. Found a "Shopping" Barbie in a see thru case. Bought a airplane size bottle of jack. Took the packing apart, placed the bottle in Barbie's purse. People got it, but could not figure out how they sold Barbie with a bottle of Jack. Overall, hated office parties, but this one worked.

Wow very generous especially for the industry. We do bits of that and Try to change it up every year but you guys go all out. Do you also do a bonus to the guys or is this in lieu of?

We are in the ie. Want to keep it close though especially if drinks are served. We've done the out of town before usually get hotels for everybody but no time to do that this year.

Thank you. Yes, we do cash bonus to all employees. We would cut back on the party or not have it to make sure they get the bonus first. I worked for a company that always did cash bonuses and one year without telling any of us they stopped them and said our bonus was the party. I was high up on the food chain and told the boss a week or so after the party that a lot of guys rely on that bonus, you cant pull the bonus and have the party in lieu, a lot of guys are not happy about it. His response was pretty much F THEM !! That was when I decided to go on my own, hahaha.
