I suspect it’s the eco boost and transmission combo. The raptor only has an 8k towing capacity as well. It probably doesn’t fair very well with all those gears. Sure it has plenty of power, but for how long going up a hill? I upgraded my transmission cooler to one triple the size on my navigator when I saw transmission temps skyrocket going up the grapevine loaded up.

The 19' F150 Limited that comes standard with the 3.5L HO and 10 speed, with tow package is rated at 11,100 lb towing. Raptor is limited to 8K due to it's tires and offroad (Soft) suspension. Perhaps the Navi is limited by gear ratio, or it's weight ?

If you touch that Trailer Backup Knob, your man card is immediately revoked :(, and trust me, we'll all know :p What the damned sales dudes don't tell you about that friggin cute little knob (Mini-steering wheel really) is that it's going to require about a half day spent in some wide open parking lot to get your trailer and truck linked before using. Then rinse and repeat for every trailer you own, then when you hook up, you need to tell the truck which trailer you've connected.
I look at that knob, then think Hmmmm, what is the difference in me reaching down (In a rather awkward position --- how do I see the mirrors from here ?) twisting some knob, when I could just sit up tall, easily see both mirrors and my wife frantically waving some "God who knows what the fuck she really means ?" hand signals and just twist the steering wheel like I've been doing for damn near 60 years ??

What do the pros use to black out the chrome so it doesn't flake off or peel from wear and tear ?

I’ve seen some that are painted but I know a lot of the chrome gets wrapped? I don’t know whats best.

Which ever color we end up with it will get some black for sure.

Oh and by the way, the way we'll know your a "Little Knob" trailer guy is those cute little stickers you have to place on your trailer tongue that the backup camera uses for position/distance reference.
I think the black out looks great, but I'd sure want some quality shop doing the work pulling and replacing those chrome pieces on a brand new Nav.
Interior sure looks nice on those Lincolns !!

Wraps tend to peal away on the edges but it is generally much cheaper. If you want it done correct have it painted than clear bra applied. I have personally done both, not a black fan I am 100% PTM. I even had the little chrome pieces on my truck steps painted to match...

I can’t imagine the knob making it easier and don’t know anything about the stickers or “pairing” the trailer ?

I kind of thought it was like the auto parrellel parking feature - I guess I thought it held the trailer straight while you backed up automatically? Or did it for you ?

Either way - it is not something I’d spend 2k on!

Mine was painted by a company that specializes in blacking out chrome trim. It’s all they do.

I agree on the monochrome look, and do that where I can. On some of the luxury vehicles going monochrome everywhere possible looks weird because some of the grills and trim have too many small details, and look better black.

On my CTS-V I painted the chrome fender vents and chrome trunk trim to match the car, and did the grill and emblems black. That particular grill would look horrible body color.

I totally agree your car would not look good with the grill PTM.

Was included on the Raptor with the trailer towing package, I'm sure it will as well with the Nav. I do like the integrated trailer brake included with the package.
I've never used mine, just read the pairing instructions once and thought --- ahhhh no thanks, I'm good ;)
But I'd certainly opt for the factory trailer towing package.
I've watched a couple of youtubes of backing with the knob, just seems they're twisting the knob versus turning the wheel ??? If somebody's more versed on it, I'm listening :p

All vehicles in Havasu should be White. Dark colors like Gray & Black absorb the heat from the sun and radiates the heat to your interior. j/s

Our current Nav is silver (the last boat was silver) I would like something that matches the boat which boils it down to black grey or white.

That and they don't make a silvery grey!

They do have a new color this year though called jade silver - it has a little green in it. But it's not for me.

In that case my personal choice would be black on black and add a few very small neon green highlights like you mentioned earlier.

Did they remove it or just tape it off and paint it?

I was looking at a ford expedition the other day at the dealer and it had a black out package for $6800 (seemed like a lot of $) - the chrome trim on the bottom of the windows on the ford or lincoln looked like it was black chrome - it had a little transparency to it and was not painted in place. I don't know if that was factory or the dealer had it done??

Mind sharing who did yours?

Wet works in Costa Mesa did mine. I paid the dealer $2200 for the “blackout”. They removed every piece of chrome and prepped and painted it then reinstalled everything. Photoglou was telling me there’s like 110 individual pieces that are done.

That seems like a pretty fair deal - a lot better than the title click price on the ford.

I expected it to be more.

Here’s before and after.

The car color is ice white. Which has a reflective type look but not the yellowish tint like a pearl color has.

I have magnetic grey on my Fusion and it is just as bad as black showing the dust. I wish I would have gotten white.

White vehicles have better resale too.

After having black trucks for 11 years then switching to a Mag Grey Raptor, both my wife and I were amazed how well it hides dust, even after a trip up to our ranch on dirt roads. She has a black Audi and it shows everything within days of washing it. I can go easily a month or more before it's barely visible.
This does not account for severe OCD however ;) In fact my white trucks showed dust worse than my Mag Grey --- maybe you have white dust ?

I owned one black vehicle ('94 Impala SS). I'll never own a black car again, not even a garage queen. My sanity isn't worth it. And I'm not even OCD. lol. Ford's Magnetic color hides dirt pretty decent IMO.

Lets just say you were contemplating buying a new truck to tow with.

After lots of thought - your color choice boiled down to 2 colors.

1) Magnetic Grey
2) Platinum White

Black is the only interior color choice for us but the exterior choice seems hard this time around.

Thoughts????

Generally I would say my choice is BLUE. But the vehicle in qustion would not lend itself well to blue, so grey is my preference over white.

They have a couple nice shades of blue - don’t muddy the water !

Man, really, you had to post a picture?? Lol. I miss mine, such a badass car. You’re right though, especially in Spring when pollen was in the air. Detail it, and it’s got a layer of yellow within a few hours.

Navi comes with a nice color palette. I like the wheels on the Magnetic one sirbob posted and with oem finish. No fan of black out. Paint to match, but like silver, polished, or dark grey wheels.

The old one will be sold to pay for black out and rims.

I haven't looked at values yet on it but I'm thinking around 6k

That black Hennessy looks good - but I'm def going to get the short one.

I'm guessing they lowered it a bit - I like those wheels.
