Lets just say you were contemplating buying a new truck to tow with.

After lots of thought - your color choice boiled down to 2 colors.

1) Magnetic Grey
2) Platinum White

Black is the only interior color choice for us but the exterior choice seems hard this time around.

Thoughts????

I prefer gray. White shows too much pollution spots

if you get in an accident the white will be easier to repair. metallic paint is almost impossible to match. also it tends to fade on plastic parts. the bumper on my grey navigator doesnt match the rest of the car.

Maybe it's just that picture, but that doesn't look like the Magnetic Grey on my Raptor. It doesn't show dirt bad for a dark color.
But I don't think the Magnetic is as "Rich" looking as was the the old Tuxedo Metallic Black of my 12' Platinum.
Now Ford seems to have gone to a non-metallic black which will show everything.

That's not a truck.

White.
It's actually a 1/2 T SUV. Registration will state class 1/2 T truck. My 03 Navigator was on the 1/2 ton hydroformed frame.;) I'll bet that Linc in Sirbob's pic will have at least 9000lbs tow capacity.
Just checked, up to 8500lbs, probably with 4X2, little less with 4X4

I’ve been looking at the grey for a while now and the pics vary greatly in how the grey looks / varying light and photo indoors or out make it look like diff color every time

They only had one black in 2018 but now have added the more metallic / very dark grey looking color for 2019

Yeah I see the Infinite Black Metallic now. That White Platinum Metallic looks great, I'd have to see the Black Metallic in person. Yes, the Magnetic changes hue depending on the viewing angle. If they'd had the Raptors with the Tuxedo Metallic Black, I'd have probably gone with it. My previous two trucks were black and after almost 50 years of driving white trucks, I was seriously "once you've gone black" hooked :) But I've had a couple of non-metallic black cars and they can drive my OCD nuts.
The Mag Grey, works just fine and nicely hides all the road dirt those TA's toss up driving in the rain :p

My old style has higher rating for tow / Salesman had some story about them changing the way they rate it now and it’s effectivly the same as the old one which was over 9k

I like the Magnetic Gray on my '17 Focus ST. Although, white on a Navigator has always looked classy. I'm no help!

Sirbob, check the factory sticker in the doorjamb for capacities before pulling the trigger. I'm finding ratings all over the map online. Even seen as low as 6300lbs on some Ford links. With 510 foot pounds torque of the 3.5 Eco engine in the Lincoln, 6300 sounds ridiculous
Towing
Maximum trailer towing in the Lincoln Navigator is limited to 8300 pounds. The Expedition offers up to a 9300 lbs. towing capacity.
Something to think about. My 03 Navi with the 5.4 had a rating of 8900lbs.

I like the white.

Black, white and grey, in that order, were always our best selling colors.

I suspect it’s the eco boost and transmission combo. The raptor only has an 8k towing capacity as well. It probably doesn’t fair very well with all those gears. Sure it has plenty of power, but for how long going up a hill? I upgraded my transmission cooler to one triple the size on my navigator when I saw transmission temps skyrocket going up the grapevine loaded up.

Towed my 8300lbs twin engined Mirage countless time behind my 03 Navi [5.4 Intech 32V DOHC], uphill 6-9 percent grades. Temp gauge never moved much if any from the center. And that was with 3 spd o/d auto tranny. My 2014 F-150 Lariat with 502a package is same. Transmission temp gauge hasn't moved from center once. Maybe Ford just put in a dummy gauge so we won't constantly worry about overheating the tranny.;):p:D Sirbob's boat has single engine and lighter than my boat. He'll be perfectly all right with the new Navi pulling his. He should only worry about not picking the right colour, regretting his choice of colour later. Actually, saw the 2019 Navi also have ruby red tinted clear as colour option, that was the choice for my truck.

The trailer towing upgrade package runs about 1900 and comes with upgraded tranny cooler and some remote dash mounted steering knob for use when backing up

That’s red!
It's ruby red, tinted clear. You have to see them side by side, Ford red they use on the PSD's looks shit to compare. Trust me, people complement on the colour.
We're on our fourth Cherokee [ wife's ], they were all white, which is fine for a smaller body SUV to make it look bigger;). The Navigator is a beluga whale in white, it looks sleeker in black, or any darker colour, just my 0.02:)
BTW, pick the colour both you and your wife like.

Unless the white has a pearl in it. Someone tapped our car and put a small scratch in it in a parking lot. $800 because the entire bumper needs to be repainted since it’s the ice white [emoji107]

I'm not saying that's not ruby red, I'm just saying that's RED!

I also like the magnetic grey on the Focus ST. What’s nice about the ST is that Oxford White is also an option because I’ve never been a fan of the White Platinum Tri-coat that’s used on all Titanium pkgs. It’s shame that Ford didn’t offer a Magnetic grey in the 2016-2018 Focus RS, in the US. I don’t dislike the Stealth Grey, but I’m not sure I would want to own one. I’d opt for Frozen White in the RS, with the black wheels. [emoji1305]

Sirbob, are you only using this SUV to pull the boat? Or will this SUV be your daily? If it’s strictly a tow vehicle, then Shadow Black would look best with your boats colors. Sadly, Tuxedo black was only offered from 2012-2015 & it was much easier to clean & more forgiving with streaks & swirl marks.

However, if you don’t want to clean a black SUV (I probably wouldn’t either) then I would choose Magnetic Grey. It’s a very nice color & always looks different, depending on the time of the day. My dad has a 2018 F150 Platinum, Magnetic & it’s extremely easy to spray detail, even in the direct sunlight, no issues, wipes up easily with a soft micro-fiber.

Always have liked white. I'm sure you already know this, but my wife last three cars: pearl white Camry, pearl white Avalon, dark gray Highlander, there's a significant temperature difference when getting in after being parked especially here in Havasu, also white is much easier to keep clean. The gray does match the boat the best.:D
