City staff and Minagar & Associates will be holding a community meeting on Aug. 14 at 4:00pm to discuss the development of an off-highway vehicle route map for a Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Pilot Program to allow off-highway vehicles to travel on specific routes on City streets. We are asking members of the community and off-highway vehicle groups to join us and provide input on potential routes.

I can’t make the meeting but California City has this and it’s great. You can ride your SxS to a couple restaurants and gas stations in town. It brings a lot of money to the City and a lot of convenience to off-roaders.

This is missing a very important strip of road, highlighted in red.....

Try to come out and encourage the council to adopt this, good to see a city encouraging this instead of shutting it down
Do they offer this meeting on Zoom as well, or is attendance only in person? I'd be there, but I just left and cant swing another trip next week.

It's an awesome idea, makes sense and will help local businesses in the winter thrive

This woould be great for us on the AZ side of the river. To be able to cross the bridge and access trails at Pirates and beyond opens up another level of riding.

I looked at the city of Needles calendar and meeting agenda, this meeting doesn't show up. Any where else we can look to see if we can attend remotely?

Great Idea, as long as it doesn't mean closing existing routes. Some of my friends and I ride the Paiute mountains between Fillmore and Richfield Utah. Both towns are motorcycle and ATV friendly and allow riding in town to access lodging, fuel, restaurants, etc. Many other towns in the area are also now allowing the same access, the key is respect to keep things open.

I ran across Fillmore a couple summers ago headed back towards home from a 3 week motorhome trip. We needed a place to crash for the night and my wife found the Fillmore KOA, we pulled in and were pleasantly surprised by a campground full of offroad cars, and bikes, and a totally fun party family atmosphere. We had no idea where we really were, and talking to a bunch of people, we swore we'd be back to camp there, and explore all the trails people told us about.
Unfortunately we were only there for the night, but we had a good time.

All the routes are major public roads thru Needles, it would be shared access between OHV and Street vehicles

Which a lot of people don’t have out here. The enthusiasts are a different story, and they’re the ones that will be hurt the most when (not if) this gets reversed. The take a mile when given an inch crowd is going to *really* fuck this up for everyone else, and there’s going to be a LOT of OHV cites out of this.

What I meant was the existing dirt trails in Ca that will potentially get heavier traffic. Ca has a history of allowing things just to gain a reason to ultimately shut them down. I've been involved in desert riding for the better part of 60 years and have seen this plenty of times.
