My kids are getting a baby shark for Christmas but they don’t know it. My wife is definitely not as excited as I am.😆 I checked her out today and I pick her up late on Christmas Eve right at 8 weeks old. I’m trying to decide how to set it up for Christmas morning. Something different than a wrapped box with holes in it if you guys have any ideas.
We have another female yellow lab that just started to mellow out at 4 years old so I figured it was time to get something else to destroy the yard and eat the baseboards👍🏻

Just have her be there and see how long they take to realize she is even in the room with all other choas or maybe a neighbor can ring doorbell bell in morning and say that her dog tags say she lives there amd is bringing her back? You eliminated the easiest route with box

I consider us pretty responsible dog owners but my wife has an entire album named "Things Zoey Ate" and there's 90+ pics of around 40+ incidents. Lots of things that we thought a dog wouldn't eat were left out and we were proved wrong. Zoey likes sharp things and never seemed to cut herself. At least 4 pairs of scissors and 3 blender bottoms. I woke up to her drinking a full PBR on the sofa one morning that she took off my BBQ island outside and punctured. She'll eat her way into canned foods like the pic of refried beans. Oddly I don't see any pics of all the shoes she ate🤷‍♂️

Kid's, what is that on the rooftop we hear thumping around with bell's ringing near the fireplace chimney, is it a reindeer you shriek or maybe it's Santa Claus running late trying to figure out how to come down the chimney as you're dashing to the nearest doorway to see, what's that puppy crate doing next to a ladder heading up to our rooftop you aloud, now as you dash outside you howl, 'oh-no, we've scared Santa away and he's left a puppy behind.... What are we to do you ask?.... The Kid's, 'can we keep it they cry aloud, you look over to mom and then say why yes my dear children, 'yes we can as you gleam with excitement.

🎅🤶🐶😉 :D

The reality was she chewed something up every week or 2 for the first 2 years and not daily but I agree it's not good. Since then she's mainly just been a food thief.
I grew up training bird dogs with my dad and with this one, no amount of punishment deterred any of the crimes even when she was caught in the act and got the shock collar zap. Without supervision, we would have her locked in a kennel (which she would chew on) or outside to avoid household destruction. My kids were half of that problem leaving stuff out and the other half was us giving the dogs partial inside/outside access when we were at work. That stopped when she started hunting in our backyard catching birds and squirrels off the fence and wanted to bring them inside. She is 95x better now but still will stand up and investigate what's on the countertops if nobody is around.... and still killing squirrels.

My female lab, absolutely adored the wiring on my trailers…

Tastiest thing I n the world…

She would eat em, knowing a calibration was coming.

I swear one trailer she ate the wiring at least 4 times. Thats not including the other trailers.

Owe I wanted to get rid of her a few times.

I would wrap up a dog toy or a leash. Give it to your kids and make a big deal about it being the suuuuper special gift, not sure if we should wait, etc. Have cameras out and recording to make it even more obvious that THIS is the BIG gift! When they unwrap it and are confused because they got a dog toy, say something like "oh shoot, we got your gift mixed up with [other dog's name here]!!! Can't believe we mixed the gifts up! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Let me go get the correct gift" and then come out with the puppy.

Or, if you have a name for the puppy chosen already, get a bowl or something with her name on it and wrap it up. When the kids unwrap it, let the confusion continue for a bit, then bring the puppy out.

Then, post videos on RDP so we can see the surprise! 😁

Anyway, just some ideas. Congrats on the new adorable family member!!!!!!

I'm sure you've seen the Chewy ad on TV. The kids get the presents opened and a collar says Coal and and they look confused. Then the parent walks in with the puppy and the kids loose their little minds.

Your kids and family are very fortunate. You’re doing good, Dad. Photos and/or videos of the surprise, please. It will be a Christmas they will remember for ever.

Hmmmm Maybe its Chocolates that are different? Mine was crate trained , potty trained early on and since about 2 hes had the run of the house even when were gone for the day . When he was a pup yes but he had tons of toys and we taught him not to destroy them ,I will say in fact his little needle sharp teeth shredded my arms but never really hyper or destructive ? 🤷‍♂️

@Deckin Around We're gonna need a pupdate on the Christmas gift...
It’s been an eventful few days. As planned, I picked up the puppy (Daisy) real late on Christmas Eve and kept her hidden until Christmas morning. We wrapped up a big heavy box filled with puppy food, carpet cleaner, pee, pads, bowls, dog toys and leash. They opened the box together and got really confused as I brought the puppy in from another room. The kids were definitely surprised.
For the fun part….
5 AM in the morning day 2 and she (Daisy) was up trying to puppy brawl with both the other dogs. Our other lab is very used to playing with our little weenie dog and doesn’t clamp down on her when they play fight. I think the older lab had her mouth open and the puppy clamped onto the lower jaw, and when the bigger dog pulled away, she ripped one of the puppies rear teeth sideways. $big emergency vet bill to do the blood test and knock her out to have the tooth extracted and the wound fixed . she’s got a stitch and surgical glue her gum and on the inside of her cheek. She has to wear a little puppy cone to keep her from scratching her face. She’s got few medicines.
We picked her up in the afternoon and it didn’t slow down at all. The first thing she did was run across our backyard and try to tackle and chomp the weenie dog.
On our way to the desert now with the whole crew
