The motor is the one who passed. I worked with one of the other guys who was hit in Santa Ana. He transferred to the Riverside area a few months ago

Heard the motor only had 2 years on, I know the other officer well... his legs are critical, he might not walk again. Fuck man[emoji22]

I understand these are trained professionals, but I can't comprehend how every single one of those guys has the restraint to not put a clip into that motherfucker upon approach. That is not a derogatory comment, but a testament to their training and self restraint to keep their emotions disconnected from the situation. I don't think I could help myself if he just killed one of their own that they had to step over. Fuck. RIP.

As a LEO, what kind of training do you have to go through to have such restraint?

That sir, is what separates good men and women from so many of us. If I were in the same situation, there is no way in hell I could restrain myself. I do not have nearly the strength, nor power of restraint.

I believe Vagos had some run ins with Riverside LE quite some time back. Before the raids and rico charges, maybe 10-12 years ago? Booby traps and such baited to hurt or kill LE.

I just opened this thread. Goddammit...tears rolling down my face after watching that video.

Motherfucking shitbag. Those officers...the motor officer killed...they protect us from harm, and they are cursed by the public. The fucking politicians that pander to the liberals and BLM have blood on their hands.

God bless and protect all of you that wear the blue.

I only saw that one post with cell camera from the storage yard.

If that is the beginning, you hear AR rifle rounds, then handgun (officer). I have to wonder if the CHP Explorer unit had an AR inside.

After LAPD North Hollywood you would think every unit should have one in a rack. But we do not know yet. And in a rural area, with back up so far away, even more so.

Survival in this situation is by cover officer, your cover, and fire control. As an officer, if you have not been in this arena before, it is all about continual training.

Just a terrible deal and for a more officer even more so as you are programed for traffic enforcement.

That's a shitty place to have to wait for backup, rush hour has traffic gridlocked in both directions, side streets too. Not far from the Ben Clark facility though.

The Explorers have long guns in them. The question is whether they had time to retrieve them. It's not something you would normally have out on a traffic stop

Damn......I saw his Dad say he doesn't know why he would have a gun in the truck. It wasn't just a gun....it was loaded and ready to be used. Once they towed that he was going back to prison when they found that loaded AR and I am sure that is why he pulled it out and started shooting

Was it a felony stop, or did the officer know who he was pulling over ahead of time, or was the car registered to someone else?

Family describe him "as trying to get his life together"?! Last I checked, convicted felons trying to clean up don't carry loaded ARs.
Story said was suspect was removed from car, notified car was to be impounded. At some point he was allowed to retrieve items from the car while the motor unit was doing the paperwork. It may have been that backup was already called at that point, with there being an impound and a felon. I'm sad there was an officer lost, no doubt, but happy his killer's judgement was swift.

The officer is a coworker of a good friend of ours that is also a motor from the riverside station. CHP motors requested to be able to mount AR’s to the saddlebags of the bikes like you see many departments use. The governor felt it looked too intimidating and didn’t approve it, only in cars where they can be concealed.

Are his suspected affiliations accurate?

Then they should have AR pistols with the buffer tube up...no libtard would feel threatened. Not a fan of "police having military weapons", but they should at least have the same weapons available that the public can attain. I am all for "equality" in that respect. Handguns are only to get you to your long gun. Not right that an officer doing the same job as one in a car, is not given the same tools to do so.

Most of departments have them on their motors, cops Should have everything intimidating that they can possibly have. This guy likely new he had the motor outgunned, it wasn’t his first rodeo.

If you look at the suspect in that long-distance video he’s the aggressor he kept walking forward and firing, you can’t retreat forever to nowhere ( not suggest in the office or did) to retreat it’s all about continual training.

Just a terrible ending.

Such a tragic situation but it’s pretty amazing that so many RDP members know the people involved. That plus the number of LE and EMTs who are members.......just one more reason to appreciate RDP. It’s nice to get accurate info. My heart and prayers go out to all those involved.

I did not see the video, it asked for Facebook login. I don't really know if I want to see it. I hope to not ever witness another gunfight. You mentioned training. What could this officer do in this case? I don't know where he was positioned at the onset, but in looking at the area he was in, there doesn't seem to be any cover. He was out gunned, and in the open it seems. I hope you don't take this as offensive, by no means do I want anyone to think that I feel the officers made any mistakes. I just would like to know what, if anything, could have changed the outcome. The only thing I could see doing is trying to fire rounds in an attempt to suppress fire, while trying to get to cover...and that happening as a suicidal aggressor is closing. I say suicidal, but the guy could have been on drugs, not feeling any hits taken. I don't know how the LEOs feel about it, but would the safest approach be for units to be paired up? Would have being in a patrol car, and not being a motor unit, been a deciding factor?

It's strange that they would yell at the guy. I certainly wouldn't want to attract the attention of a guy with a gun that was in a gunfight.

I thought the same thing. He must have hoped that the gunman would turn towards him long enough for the police to take the gunman down. What a sad situation to have witnessed while feeling helpless.

They were so horrified by what they were seeing, the only thing they could do to help was try to distract the gunman. A lot of FB comments say they were stupid, I thought their actions were commendable.

Any veteran police officer could tell you how this could have been prevented and the officer could have survived. Not the time and place to do it. R.I. P.

Been thinking the same since seeing this story. I’m not a cop, but seems fairly straightforward.

Sad, my guess is he knew he was going away for a long time and said f it.

A gun in the hands of a felon, is already federal, add in one that is most likely illegal to own in ca. He was looking at long time in a cell. I wonder why he was going to impound the vehicle. Bad registration, no insurance, no drivers license, or some combo of the 3?

None of that matters now. I hope the gang is just talking, I do not want to see a war between a gang and Leo. That's just going to lead too more blood shed and most likely not just those involved.

Watched the video from the storage unit camera phone. Streets I've been on looking like TJ...sad deal. It seems odd to watch what appears to be traffic passing just a few feet away. If one of those passers by had a tenth the courage of those officers, it could have been ended quickly. Your insurance may go up, you may need a car and a lawyer, but I'd think your consience would be clear.

Vagos gang member. Fuck that piece of shit and the rest of his crew. They just opened a can they will regret.
While I HATE to admit it, I’ve known this POS for a while as I worked with him. I can tell you 100% for sure he did have a bike, but it never ran long and he never rode it. That being said I highly doubt any affiliation with the Vagos, however he was a high ranking member of the Aryan Brotherhood when he did his stint for attempted murder.
