More than two dozen motorcyclists got their motorcycles confiscated after essentially taking over of stretches of two freeways between Lincoln Park and Solana Beach, performing risky riding tricks and blocking morning traffic for a half-hour, authorities reported Monday.

The illegal and dangerous traffic spectacle began about 8 a.m. Saturday, when the group entered northbound Interstate 805 at Imperial Avenue in southeastern San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 8:30 a.m., the bikers exited Interstate 5 at Via De La Valle in Solana Beach, where CHP personnel moved in and directed them into a nearby parking lot. There, officers detained and issued misdemeanor citations to a total of 30 riders and impounded their motorcycles.

Why can’t they send undercover guys out to these take overs. Film the participants driving. Write down the plate #, then go grab them early in the morning when at home. Confiscate the car & crush it. IMHO this crap will stop in 30 days when word gets out.

If laws wont let you do this. Pass ones that will!!

Ironically enough, there are task forces with personnel assigned to identify, monitor and when necessary, take action during these types of events. The problem with what you mentioned...many of these bikes/quads don't have any plates. Second, those that do are either "Cold-plated" or straight stolen and nobody riding them gives 2 fucks. I do agree with what you said at the end though. Start with heavy enforcement and impound and crush as many of these bikes as possible. Law enforcement needs to hammer home the message that the shit that happens in Oakland, stays in Oakland.

Some lucky people will be getting there stolen bikes back.

I posted about this a few months ago. Talked to a few of them that were doing it. My guess 90% of the bikes are stolen. Not 1 had any form of plate or green sticker. The Sheriff literally let them be. They only responded because a lady hit one of them head on. And they were smashing up her car. They made sure she was OK. And drove the opposite direction of the group.

They are just going to steal more to get back in the game…..
That also came to mind, along with many of them being stolen. Hopefully LE has checked the bike numbers to determine status to see how many are hot.

LA (possibly all of CA?) has laws that allow the impound and SALE of these bikes. My guess is if they can prove the riders took part in the take over they aren’t getting those bikes back!

There should be ALOT more of this.

To be clear I rode dirt bikes on the street in my neighborhood as a kid. However what is going on now with these massive group rides that defy all road laws and make everybody on the road deal with them taking over is BS!!

The girl I’m dating now sadly lives in a very nice area that seems to be a favorite spot for late night donuts. They typically show up around midnight when we are sound asleep. Literally 100 cars. People park and get out to watch other others doing donuts.. LA PD shows up, usually the helicopter first telling everybody over the speakers that the cop cars are coming. All they do is chase them away. This happens to be on a dead-end street. That would be very easy to lock them all in impound their cars and sell them off.

I just don’t understand why they don’t do it?

I got caught up in that huge street racing bust in the industrial buildings near Ontario Airport back in the 80's. My buddy had towed his Hemi Coronet but we hadn't unloaded it yet. Cops closed off all the streets and wrote at least 100 tickets mostly for aiding and abetting a street race. At court they dismissed everyone that wasn't actively racing because they didn't have room at the court house.

Similar incident in the 70s I have the headlines from the San Luis Tribune somewhere I'll look

Saw a kid thinking he could get away from ocsd today lol. Cops outsmarted the during rider.

They blocked the kid went around then at driveway one went to block and did somewhat kid stopped but tried to slowly fool the front cop and tried to walk like stopping then the other tacked him down lol. Had a good view from side street and no cars to hold up but others on street had to stop in traffic.

I got pulled out at gunpoint a mile away from where I had done a BIG burnout. That will get a 16 yr old's attention.
