Once again Larson showed why he is in a class by himself. He moved up into the clag around midpoint of the race, and that did two things. One, since it's wetter up there, it kept the right rear cooler and saved it for the end. He also kept the car pulling hard in the rough while packing a higher groove at the same time. That's a difficult task, but Kyle has the magic to do it. During yellow laps, he pushed up even more to further smooth out that line.

Kyle is known for being comfortable on the wall, and tonight his efforts up top paid off bigtime. In a post race interview, Pursley claimed Larson's starting position on pole gave him an outsize advantage, and that he would have passed him if the yellow caused by the banner falling on the track hadn't been thrown.

I didn't see it that way. There were several instances where Pursley pulled up close to Larson, but then couldn't keep the car hooked up in the clag while Larson did. The last two yellows and restarts gave Larson a clear shot, and removed the lapped cars from the equation.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing Larson's hands off donuts.

😁

Thorson blew an engine. We had a mess to clean up in hit pit after the race from losing oil. He was doing pretty well before that. Crazy that Pursley made it all the way through the pole shuffle until he ran out of gas or he would’ve started up front.

From the brief view on Flo it looked like the engine had a rapid unscheduled disassembly.
