Watching all week and making a big badass pot of Chili Saturday night for the feature races.
Who's your pick(s)?
I'd love to see Larson or Rico.
C Bell has become a whiny Lil bitch recently.
A- main will be insane as always.

Chase Elliott won his heat tonight from the pole...He's becoming a dirt guy.

This brings back good memories. I crewed for 12 years at the Chili Bowl, and saw some great racing.

I have a good Chili Bowl Tony Stewart story. There's a large restroom at the top of the ramp you see the cars rolling down. In 2003 (I think), I went in it for a quick prerace leakdown.

I was standing in front of the very left-hand urinal, and Tony tapped me on the shoulder. "Would you please let me go ahead of you? I have to get in the car right now, and this is my lucky urinal."

Mmmmk...Tony is the man, so I stepped aside. It was damn funny.

😁

Bell looked really quick last night back in a KKM car. Would like to see Larson win again though.

Bell came from 11th in the ROC.He did look very fast.
Thought I heard KKM brought 15 buy a ride cars?
Larson needed 1 more lap.
Feature winner took the checkered &flipped...crazy.

Keep an eye out for the 6A car, driven by AJ Bender, a local kid from Ramona and family friend. He’s driving for Cruz Pedregon. He runs tonight, hope he does well!

Larson was in a new car as well.
We used to hit the local 1/4 mile track that was running super modified an sprinters back in 70's until the track went away.
Did 10 years of Nascar, hitting a different track each year. The only thing planned was the Sunday race and the rest of the week was checking out the local area. Hit parts of the country that we would otherwise never go and it was awesome.
Really happy to see the small tracks get the exposure now that they deserve. With Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader, etc. and now Kyle Larson and Brad Sweet owning and promoting dirt tracks, it can only get better.

I am hoping Larson repeats again, but if not, Rico would be cool to again. It is so unfortunate that the smallest of people get exposed to this kind of racing as opposed to NASCAR, Indy, F1. Although I have no experience behind the wheel of these, just a fan, it certainly seems like the driver has more influence in results as opposed to equipment like so many other series, let alone all the on track action you could want in terms of overtakes, etc, and on the razors edge lap after lap. I am glad that MavTV has at least picked up the finals and such, maybe one day the big networks will figure it out.

Tough question. Definitely a Yung Money fan, but think it would be cool if Logan Seavey in Kevin Swindell's car could pull it off. Like always, it's going to be quite a show, especially after last nights VIROC.

While the driver is definitely a key ingredient, the guy turning the screws deserves a lot of credit. Setup is mucho importante.

If you can race and win in a dirt midget, you can be successful in almost any form of motorsports. There is nothing like trying to drive a 900 pound race car with almost 400 horsepower around a bullring dirt track!

Agreed. I’ve worked the pits as a helper over the years and car setup/adjustments is insane. The change in track conditions alone throughout an evening of racing from heats to mains can be night and day.

Just got a text and found out my boy is in heat #3 tonight, with Kyle Larson and Chris Windom in it. Quite the beginning for a Chili Bowl rookie!
Stacked heat...Windom on the pole.Larson last.He should accrue some passing points.

Alec Bender is my guy in the 6A. Starts 4th, should be interesting. If he keeps his nerves in check he’ll be fine. The kid can wheel a dirt car, and this is a big step up in equipment for him. Not to mention competition! 😆

Held his own pretty well! Started and finished 4th, not bad considering that heat was loaded with big guns. Larson went 6 to 2.

Yeah thanks, his car just didn’t have enough drive off. He drove smart and took advantage of the attrition in that B1. That fight on live stream was crazy after the Snyder kid got DQ’d! 😂

The Chili Bowl redefined the saying "He put it in the fence" to "He put it on the fence."

In 2007 a racer was catapulted onto the top of the fence just below the electric signboard in Turn 1. The rear wheels were around eight feet above the track, and a tractor front bucket was used to untangle the car and driver and get the car back on the ground.

I believe that was McCredie that sent it over the catch fence.

Anyone watching today? I’m watching and waiting for E Feature 1, that’s where my boy is starting and hopefully not ending his first Chili Bowl run.
Good luck to your guy...
Playing alphabet soup won't be easy.
Have a couple friends buried in morning last chance features.
The nightly A mains were all exceptional. Everybody throwing bomb sliders. That was fun to watch.
That Indycar guy(Ferruci<sp)took a nasty spill.Says he can't wait to do it again next year...that's a racer(for an Indycar guy).
How'd Cruz Pedregon do after getting a last minute ride?
Tonight's A feature gonna be insane...

Cruz didn’t make the call for his heat race. I missed some of the d mains last night so don’t know if he made it out at all.

Tonight is definitely gonna be interesting and will see how pole shuffle goes. Larson is 9 and a couple others like Rico starting deep in it too. Could make for an interesting race night. Hoping it doesn’t go blue groove and tires become a problem.

Cruz DNF’d twice and was done. Don’t think he even attempted a run through the soup today. Probably content in just being a car owner at this point! 😆

Santino ain't skeered to gas it. I hope he will get a full time ride this year. He has a ride for the 500 lined up.

It's been a while since Cruz ran the Chili Bowl, right? I think it's been ten years.

The first time Ron Capps gave it a shot, his pit was next to ours. I had a great time talking to him, he's really a nice guy. He was joking he was the Ninja midget racer, not very many people knew who he was.

Looking at the entry list...Old Man Scelzi is there, but not Gio?

I’ve always wanted to wheel a midget on the dirt. Maybe one day.

Sprint car was fun and thoroughly enjoyed my time in one. Midget HP to weight ratio in such a small round form is scary.
Only time I was in one was test firing it off in the parking lot at Tulsa one day during chili bowl. The feeling of how small the car is and how easily the gas makes it fly was enough for me to not want to be in one again lol. Dad said when he got to me with the quad to push back inside my eyes were still bugged out hahaha.

Didn’t advance past E. Would’ve been tough from 15th starting spot without a lot of attrition, and it was a pretty clean race. Looking forward to the A main tonight, it’s gonna be good.

Early to mid 2000s I believe. The opening scene for Wide World Of Sports shows a Spinter wadding up before turn #1 on lap one. That was a close friend of the family's team. That kid killed it locally in the midgets and shifter karts. That was his 1st lap in a Sprinter. Done after that.

My $$$ is on Tanner Thorson tonight.
X2...
Arizona based Reinbold team.I'll take a 2 car non ride buying team over the evil empire(KKR) anytime.
Kid looks like he's set on kill.
55 laps is a long race.Tracks gonna change a lot. Paul Silva(Larson's crew chief)is a master of late race set up.
Still pulling for Larson . Dark horse might be Stenhouse jr. ?

I like your KKR analogy. Like the Yankees of dirt track racing! 😂 My dark horse is Buddy Kofoid.

Anyone know if the C-A mains will be replayed on Flo tomorrow? I thought I heard an announcer mention it earlier but I'm not seeing it on their schedule.

They should be, they mentioned they were still recording after the coverage switched to MAV. So they should at least have highlight videos tomorrow, if not full replays.
