Does anyone have a newer Chevy 1500 with the Turbo 2.7. Looking at replacing a work truck before the end of the year and thinking about going this route. Supposed to have 420 ft#'s of torque and get 22mpg. Any thoughts.

That’s what our work got me this year. It’s actually pretty impressive truck but it’s the Custom model so it’s pretty stripped inside only real feature is the Apple play. I’ve towed my RZR with it and my prostar 190 so nothing to heavy and it did great didn’t hunt for gears. Its really got a lot of torque and doesn’t need to be run at hi RPMs to tow. With that said it has never got over 20mpg and for the 30k I’ve driven it it’s sitting at 19mpg. If you like the sound of a V8 in your truck this is not the truck for you it sounds just like my wife’s Passat!

A good friend has one as a daily driver, and tows his 23 Daytona with it all over WI. He loves it for what he uses it for.

I drove it empty and have been considering it. Having a 6.2L spoils you though…

I’ve had a 21 crew cab shortbed work truck that I have 20k miles on it. It gets around 20 MPG. Haven’t really towed with it but it has more power than my last truck which was the same except had the 4.3 V6. I was seeing high 20s when on a work trip to Albuquerque out on the freeway. I did have an issue with it when I first got it with it throwing the check engine light. Took it to the dealer and at first they replaced a trans sensor. Couple hundred miles after it came back on and they eventually replaced part of the wiring harness. Since then no issues. Sounded like the truck was assembled during early COVID BS and they had some people working at the factory that weren’t used to putting these trucks together. I’ve had 3 different Silverado’s 1 with the V8 one with the V6 and now the 2.7. If I was just commuting and not towing heavy for a 1500 I would get the 2.7.

Ok so I have had this truck almost 2 months. I really like it for driving around town. I'm averaging 22.2 MPG. It's two wheel drive, crew cab and it is the stripped down custom version. I have towed a 4500# trailer with it with plenty of power. I think I am going to put a 3" drop on it just for the convenience of getting in and out of it, plus it will look cool when I put some wheels on it. For a commuter work truck I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. The only real issue is there is hardly any insulation. It is kind of noisy in the cab under power, but liveable.

Put some pics in this thread when you drop it please.

I’m guessing some sound deadening of your choice would go quite a way toward quieting it down.

Glad your purchase worked out for you.

Would that change with a better model?

I think so, but I haven't been a different model to know.

It doesn't even have the insulation under the hood. I am going to check ,but I am sure they sell it.
