We thought st George and surrounding areas was a great place to consider. Plenty of medical, big enough town but still open space.
Cost was good, it's a candidate

It's a nice area. Views for days, everywhere you look. Jeff loves mountain biking, and both Montana and Havasu are not ideal for it. Hiking, Off-roading, National Parks, Powell. We also have a lot of friends in the St. George/Hurricane area. In the end, we realized water security is a really big issue for us, and St. George doesn't have it (this is one reason Durango and Moab lost out also). It's also a little too big of a city for our small-town souls. Two things on our original list were no interstate and a river going through town. We ended up at two towns on a lake. That'll work. Everyone has to figure out what their priorities are and then try to find the closest fit. You won't get everything, but with a nation with geography like ours, you should be able to get pretty close to your dream location.
