Looking for a cheap $5000 boat in good running order and not beat to hell for the interior. Age doesn’t matter as long as it’s runs good and not a poop or tear box.

What’s out there

you looking for something fun or a bayliner type deal? You're not far off my "make it go away" price for my Lavey Mod VP....but I'm not sure if 4" of freeboard will work for you

Something that is turn key and runs good. I don’t want to put any money into it besides basic maintenance.

The one nearest the beach. Turn key, $6000 takes it. I put a new transom in it 5 or so years ago...there isn't a stronger one out there. New jack plate from Bob's last year. Good "new" used powerhead with about 1 hour on it, perfect chrome in all 6 holes. New interior that attracts my greasy ass fingerprints last year...needs a cleaning. All new electrics in the motor (switchboxes, stator, trigger, rectumfrier) last year. Impeller was changed at the beginning of the season and might have 20 minutes on it. Comes with a 4 blade Ron Hill 24P prop (bad ass prop) and a 27P Mach 3 blade turd of a prop. Trailer is decent with good car tires that are 5 years old. Has a ski pole (not pictured...I have 2 or 3....blue or red, pick your color). Several boxes of spare shit (cylinder heads, thermostates, coils, plug wires, etc....) come with it.

I’m kinda doing a fire sale…not necessarily for the money but just to get shit off my plate. Wife was in an accident over the weekend and gonna be in a wheelchair for the next 3-4 months…trying to simplify my life so I can more easily deal with all this. I’d take $5K for it if the buyer wants to pick it up at my storage in big River

Very sorry to hear about your wife. I'm going through the same thing as far as liquidating. Making a move and I need to minimize. Not going to lie, if I knew I would have room for it, I would pick it up.

Cheap and Turn Key don't go hand in hand, Ian! 😂

Boat prices are still as high as giraffe pussy!

I am in my Crownline 13k and that was a STEAL. Took months to find. And still needed to do shit to make it “right”.

No doubt its hard to find clean survivors. Mine is pretty clean and was a deal even though i had to work out some stuff.

I'm not sure you really need the supercharged version.

There is a 2004 for sale in lancaster for 6k.

Fun boat for 3 people. Not sure i would want to venture to far into powell with a 15' boat...lol

What, are you new? Probably could have a DCB by the time you pay to keep a free boat running for a year.

Someone was talking about their dad’s bayliner For pretty cheep. Boat looks to have been loved. If my ego wasn’t making decisions and I just wanted something that worked, that’s what I would be buying.

The best time I have ever had on a boat was in a total old Glastron. It ran great and was structurally sound. If I had the storage space I would totally own a solid beater boat! Wish I had the storage space to store a boat I cared about..

Like others have said, there’s plenty of cheap boats out there online. I’ve found the best two cheap places to look Facebook marketplace, OfferUp. Cash in hand talks.

For reference; a few weeks ago there was an old Laveycraft posted on Facebook that looked in really good shape for its age (1989) for $7,000 then lowered to $6,000. Ended up getting it for $4,500.
I removed the oil injection system on the outboard and replaced the fuel lines. Boom fully running boat on a trailer that will get me on the water having fun!
Coolest part to me, I found the original build file in the old Lavey filling cabinets. The boat ended up being 100% original except for the wheels and tires on the trailer. It was even the original family from brand new. The build file for 1989 has a lot of neat things in it; all work order receipts, gel coat mix ratios for all the different color panels, interior color codes for the different colors, just about everything was in the file.

Keep on looking and making offers. You’ll find a cheap boat in no time.

Post some pics of that bad girl! I just rebuilt my carbs and replaced some fuel line, then realized my power wiring was a little messed up and what made cold starting so difficult. Thing is running like a top now on the hose at least. Gotta love the old 2 strokes.

If you are up to, and able to look back in the files to '85.... let me know. I'd LOVE to find some more info on my little old float.

I’ll look for you today! I’m going over to work on the boat after work I’ll check my parents file cabinets.

That's awesome! I didn't even know they made a 16'er. When did your dad and uncle take over? I can't remember.

If you come across anything about my uncle's boat/your dad's '85 Parker 9 hour race boat let me know. I'm sure my uncle would be excited for it.

November 1991, I was born December. I spent just about every day after school at the shop growing up as a kid.
I had no idea they made this model either. From what my dad says it’s the model that was right before Lavey made the 18 Interceptor and this 16 looks like a smaller version of that boat. The closest comparison I’ve been able to find about the 16 is the Glastron CVX-16 but they are slightly different running surface, I think the Glastron has a pad bottom.

Mine is an 18 Interceptor from '85? Before in time-frame or before as in smaller than the 18 interceptor?

Before as in smaller, not positive on timeline. I was always under the impression you had an 18.10 mod V not the Interceptor

Looks like a perfect lower river float to me! Looks clean too!

What does that little thing run with the 115?

That’s the idea!

No idea yet. Carbs need a rebuild then look into the ignition system if that doesn’t fix it. I could only run it at 1 throttle position or else it would spit and sputter. So far top speed is 30mph, no idea on RPM gotta figure out the gauge.
