Cell phone help, can't make calls

Hi all, I have had Verizon cell service for over 30 yrs now. Intermittently, like today, I get a message when trying to call out " your phones not registered on a network, you can only make emergency calls".
Why does this happen and what can I do about it? Very frustrating. I've restarted my phone, shut it off and restarted with no change. I tried calling Verizon @ 611, nothing works. Can't text either. This is b.s.

Funny part is I have one of those Verizon cube Internet things for home Internet and it still works perfectly.

Very widespread for sure. I have issues in Havasu and all of my work area. Have to do my bidding from wifi. Haha.

It appears there is a massive outage from CA to NY. You can text and email in most cases. Texts between iPhone users work but iPhone to android might not?

But internet works fine on it… Even though I have wifi calling enabled, no calls are coming in/out.

The strange thing is, one of our phones is down and the other is working fine.

Both Iphone and Android users make sure Wifi Calling is turned on. Iphone to iphone users can facetime audio and should be able to get through to each other if both people are on wifi.

Based off your response I grabbed my other phone. My 1st call attempt received a notice they were working on the problem. My 2nd call attempt went thru so I was at least able to get that accomplished. Gunna roll w/ the back up phone for the day I guess?
It's an older Motorola A1 unit....go figure.

dude unlocked the door and went in, printed out this sign and taped it up then opened the door.

My day has gone to shit. Headed to a dentist appt. in San Pedro this morning....decided to take the bridges, since we took them on Saturday night to go to dinner in San Pedro and that wreck with the truck and the batteries was nowhere to be seen and things were open. I get on the 710 and the caltrans sign says the bridges are closed. Fuck, get off and every other way to pedro is dead stopped...tried to check traffic on the phone...nope, no cell service. Can't call the Dentist and tell them I'll be late either. Fuck. Ended up turning around and coming home (spent 2 hours stuck on the road) and sent them an email. Was expecting 2 calls today...one about 20 minutes ago and one in about an hour....

Fuck Verizon.

Yes, but when I had AT&T is was like my network was down every day. No joke as FJB would say.

How is it that the network is down for my personal calls but still avail for SOS?
My Verizon is working on iPhone in OC btw
