Skiers, what class are you skiing, and what boat are you behind?

Drivers, navigators, and observers (aka those afraid to ski, but still want to take part :D), who are you pulling, what class, what boat?

Trying to make a one stop spot for the video crew to find RDP related skiers for the webcast.

I'll start
BJ (CrazyHippy) Hipskind
Stock Daycruiser behind the #33 Hallett 210

Because there are novices behind 38' Fountains, and I'm behind a 21' boat. At least stock daycruiser I'm only racing single engines.

I had a little birdy tell me that a certain Carl "That's Mr. 138 to you" Brunst might be skiing Mens Novice, if he can find a boat...:hmm

Anyone out there willing to pull an overqualified, underpracticed novice? :D

Stock daycruiser is a great class! you will have fun, and hopefully have some friendly competition.

I"ll be skiing Senior Men behind boat 277 (38' Fountain). Biggest boat I've been behind yet!

Skiing for a trophy huh? Stock day cruiser is still a tough class and I think there's up to 30 ft singles allowed.... Most novice ski with a 21 as much as a big boat helps most the novice guys I know that have won have been behind a small boat... Either way have fun and good luck out there the first one is always the worst one!

Not skiing for a trophy as much as trying not to show up at a gun fight with a knife.

Fortunately there is a knife class :)

Scared huh?

Look at it as making everyone else look really good, not making yourself look bad :p

Different point of views, I suppose big boat or small boat anything can happen out there and in my opinion your good enough to beat any novice in that race no matter what size boat

We'll see... This is alot more race than i have been running. Not sure how my ski shape is. Any chance i can talk everyone into a running race instead? Say 26 miles and some change?

Besides that damned little King Kid is FAST!!!!:swear

Judging by the way I've heard you ski, it sounds like a reasonable handicap. I'm not going to say the boat doesn't make a difference, but the skier still has to make it.

And yes, there will be some larger boats in Stock Day Cruiser.

Unless Marty Wells decides to ski (OLD RULES)Novice class again, he has not skied in 5 years and can qualify for Novice, just like he did several years ago...and won the race outright. Can you spell sandbagger?

He can't do that anymore.

"To qualify as a NOVICE the skier shall not have received points in a sanctioned marathon/circle race in any class other than Novice, Social, Pro Social or the equivalent entry level class in your region. If you have ever trophied in the Catalina Ski Race you may NOT enter the Novice class."

If you look at the record for Novice, there are 2. New rules & old rules.

I think I'll sign up for the "Out Of Shape Photographer Who Hasn't Actually Skied In Years" Class, it's for those of us are better off behind a lens (and it's safer for you real skiers). That way I don't have to get my ass kicked behind a boat for 52 miles :D

I finished and had a blast. Can't walk today, but that was expected:grumble:

We ran 1:45-150ish, haven't seen an official time yet. Missed my start but stood up the rest of the race. I'm happy:D:champagne:

Awsome BJ! I will for sure be skining next year! From my previous races I am guessing you will be able to walk normal by Wednesday! Good job!

Say BJ,

I will collect the beer next year. Too many free ones already Saturday. Hey man, you finished. Look at it this way... Last year we finished in 1.56+ and this year 1.24+.... Same boat, same driver, same skier -yes the water was smoother, but the experience is what really counts.

Maybe next year we can go double or nothing??:skull

BJ,
I wish we had still been at the finish line when you finished but so I could have gotten a shot of you.
Here's a couple from check-in before the race.

Congratulations for racing and finishing!
