I did see an RDP logo. Did not see a team RDP commercial, doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though. They did speak on RDP. Don’t remember specifically what was said.

I talked to JP Krieger and he said he heard the conditions were really good. No wind, only like a 1 foot swell and pretty flat and yet no records broken this year.

Saw the boat with RDP logo, very cool of you guys to be involved with sponsorship there was a significant production team in place today for live feed, I’m assuming you will get some positive exposure from that.

It was number 2, Mike Avila Jr. He came in 6th and was in a full on drag race with some big boats at the finish. I think he finished in under an hour.

Didn’t see a commercial, but the logo was up and the announcer said River Daves Place was sponsoring the replay of the start.

Scarab Kv, the flamed 36 Apache, warpath, that American flag KV scarab, etc etc. these are all west coast / southern ca guys / boats. There’s still a shit load of bad ass offshore boats in so cal. You just Never see them Out running. Weird.

So many of the guys I know with these boats say they just store them all year, drag it out for this race, and then take it back to storage.

Sometimes there is a maintenance thrown in there before the race.

I was supposed to work the live feed positioned on the Carnival dock (that you were great at photographing), but that didn't work out. Jeff did pick me up in the Omni Cat for the finish. It's hard to get a clean steady shot while you're standing in a moving boat.

They struggled with that live feed especially with Starlink. I didn't think it turned out so bad all things considered. Sorry I didn't get many pics. Such an awesome event! Great to see Mike King, White Works and Mr. Games. Also ran into Debbie and Amy as well as Cory Ferguson.

Yep. I’d say it’s the majority of those guys do just that. The virgin cigarette was that way before it sold. That flamed Apache is out of San Diego and he only runs it for this race.

Bob and Mary Maher joined me for breakfast, while the race was going on Bob and I had the most amazing conversation about hydrodynamic theory, hull design, ski design, woodworking, surfboard shaping, boat racing, aerodynamics, aviation, and raising badass daughters. He’s 85 and still in the shop making skis, talking about buying another plane, designing boats, and looking for ways to promote ski racing and his business. I really need to get back in my woodshop and be creative, very inspiring to be sitting there with Bob while 80% of the racers out there are on his skis, and the other 20% are on MAHA knockoffs, what an absolute legend and innovator.

On the contrary... Two records were shattered this weekend!!!

We finished 1st in the open day cruiser class.... We broke our own record set 10 years ago!!! The new record is 1:10.24

Also, Mike Avila Jr with his skier Wayne Mawyer broke the F2 outboard record!!
