3’ is nothing when they’re pumping between Elderberry and Pyramid.

We used to do watercraft testing at Elderberry and it would raise/drop 5’ while we were there. Had to move the stupid truck/trailer up and down the ramp constantly 😂

A lot of it depends on how much they’re balancing it out between Castaic and Elderberry.

I’ll have to drive up on my home tomorrow and get a new perspective on things. Seems from reports we should be at a good level. We will see
But why they would letting water out before full pool is definitely interesting

Pyramid is looked full last weekend when i drove by. so i had to look..
Lake NameCurrent LevelFull Pool
Pyramid (CA)2,566.272,574.80
I wonder how often it gets to fill pool. Brought the boat home from the river and took it to pyramid and it looked the same as it always does. This was last summer.

One of my favorite places to race... wish they'd bring it back
I loved the waking up the sound of those boats when they were racing here. Definitely miss it and a short bike ride down to the lower lake.

Nowhere near full pool, it's dropped 6 maybe 7 feet in the last week 🤬

I've been watching it today an it finally appears inflow is catching up. They have been letting more water out than what's coming in

Last weekend 3/18/23. Highest it’s been since the Dam restoration. Still very murky with debris everywhere.

Castaic is the only lake with more patrol boats on it than regular boats .
Well that’s almost funny. Cause with cut backs I bet there wasn’t a sheriff boat on that lake during the week. And one at most on weekends.
Two lifeguard filled boats at most times.
Imho if you get a ticket on that lake you probably deserved it.

One on the ramp ready to if needed. But not much more than that most times. My statement stands. If you got ticketed. You probably deserved it.

Examples. Standing on your bow dancing around throwing beer bottles in the water. Your bound to be noticed.

Pulling tubers the wrong way like a Fn moron. Bound to be noticed.

A few speed laps in the back or floating sipping a drink in a cove. Probably not an issue at all.

It has been trailered often but ready to go.
We got a little side tracked. Surprise. Lol.
I’ll try and even see if they’ll let me up the west ramp entrance to get a pic or two to show how high ( or not) it really is.

Well , it’s been close to 15 years that I’ve been on that lake , it was dead winter with me and maybe 1 other fishermen out there , and yes I got a speeding ticket way back in the north part of lake . But since then I’ve read / heard Teague and Howard boats talk of their speed when testing boats and not 1 ticket . And maybe because of the hyper- enforcement of everything, they don’t need all those patrol boats anymore .

Sorry to hear that.
As for the Teague / Howard comment.
Teague donates a huge amount of funds to programs and I would bet pays a yearly fee to test their. Mostly later weekday evenings in the back cove. Not justifying a double standard but I can surely understand why he is allowed to test their.

Not to make it a pissing match because I really like going BV and camping in the 5th wheels right on the water. But you have more Leo there than you’ll see in 2 hours let alone all weekend at Castaic coming through the campgrounds / sitting by the store with binoculars and just plain driving around that lake looking to site you.
Again. If you’re not a stand out and do hey LAM stuff. You probably won’t have an issue at all.

I remember racing IHBA at the lower cesspool in the early 90s. My mentor told me “what ever you do, don’t crash here, “ he told me it was the nastiest shit water on the circuit. Then just by chance I moved to Santa Clarita in the late 90s & lived there for five years. Every fall I would read in the paper about the cleanup/ dredging operation at the day beach because of the massive amount of dirty diapers. Because it was hazardous waste they kept track of the weight of diapers and the total amount would make it into the news. It was astounding what they pulled out of there.

The day I picked up my new to me boat from the previous owner, I stopped at Castaic mid week to meet some friends and take my new boat for a spin. I pick my friends up at the dock along with their cooler of beer. We were the only boat on the water late morning. We made a few passes across the lake and got pulled over by the sheriff. I showed him all of my safety equipment on the boat. He gave me a ticket and he kicked us off the lake because we had a cooler full of beer. At that time I didn't realize it was a dry lake with no alcohol.

I got a ticket and got off easy I guess however, I hadn't been drinking. A few months later I had to attend court in Valencia and the court ordered me to boating safety course. I haven't been back to that lake in 18 years.

Fishing has been slow this year with the lakes fluctuating so much and water clarity.

Did catch a nice 4lb largemouth at Pyramid back in January.
