went to the lake yesterday and they didn't pass me because the carpet was damp...the rains over weekend left the carpet slightly damp to the touch...no standing water...they lowered the outdrive and the lower unit was dry as a bone...i told the guy if i had been in a lake wouldn't there be water in the drive? nope no dice...

pissed me off because i told the kids 3yr&5yr that we were going...picked daughter from school got sandwiches from subway and got denied...

so we went home and picked up my 40 dollar craigslist find and hit the lower lake...at least we were on the water....;)

That sucks, sounds like it's going to be a rough summer dealing with that this year.

We used to sneak out to Piru mid week also, but that was before all this mussel madness. I'm glad to see you made the best of your day!

The secret is tell them
You just came from the ocean! The salt water kills the muscles and they should pass you! Worth a try.

The Quagga fags are doing a good job of working themselves out of a job. I understand quagga mussels are bad, but a little common sense would be nice.

both were skeptical of a canoe since this was the first time they had been in one...they weren't liking how much it rocked, but after 5 minutes they were laughing and having a great time looking over the edge trying to find fish below...

even my wife had a good time...even though she wouldn't admit it...if she did she would have to take back the fact she thought buying a canoe was a dumb idea;)

???? Do they check the boat at the gates where you pay or did you have to pay, go to the ramp to get checked ( and denied)?

If you do not have a return band on your boat they have you pull straight into the parking spots in front of the both. Then you wait for the inspection. Then if you pass you walk back to the guard gate and pay them to enter the lake. If you fail you have a 7 day restriction to any Ca. lakes. Then you get reinspected next time again.
When you are leaving the lake you stop at the guard gate and they will put a band on your front clip and to your winch clip.
I see a lot of problems likes fights or no one at the lake and they will have no funding for the next your. ;)

Say you pass and when exiting the lake they put a band on it. You go home and do some work on the boat maybe run it on the hose, do you get denied for having water in the bilge or in the drive even though you have a band?

Once that band is on and unbroken you just get waived threw.

So how do they know you didn't take your boat somewhere else in the mean time ?!?!?!?:skull

As stated from Luvnlife if your band is removed you get inspected again. Well maybe not you but us non LEO will. ;):D

I didnt think Bayliners needed to be hooked to the trailer. :D

Bow eye to whatever your boat clips to on the trailer. C-mon Rich I know your Bayliner attaches to the trailer somehow:D

Once upon a time I drove home from Parker to Mesa AZ. Stopped at the local Walgreens drug store and picked up a gallon of bleach. Poured out my simple green and diluted the bleach with what was left of my drinking water Poured some bleach in the bilge and sprayed the surrounding bilge areas with the diluted bleach. From what I've read the Quagga dies if dried. But I still sprayed the out side around the jet pump. Headed out to the SAG and had a great day boating.

Sounds like someone could make a killing if the had say a water bleach solution and were to charge at the gate for a cleaning.

If I was there I'd look into this. I know I know. some tree hugger would claim the bleach is just as bad as the Quagga.lol Id still look into it. You could fight that with 200ppm paper that measures parts per million of bleach.

I was thinking about doing a day trip. I would much rather go to Pyramid though.

Yeah, went to Pyramid about two weeks ago and was inspected. I have a cooler built in to the boat. I filled it and it leaked melted water into the ski locker, so the carpet was wet with standing water. They didn't want to let me in, but they got in and felt the standing water and it was ice cold. Everything else was dry. They let me in but told me not to fill the cooler before being inspected again or else they wouldn't let me in. ;)
