CARB: No more diesel RVs for sale in CA

This story got buried in the election news barrage, but CARB apparently just modified something in the ACT (Advanced Clean Truck) regulation a few days ago, that basically prevents the manufacture of diesel RVs in CA and 5 other states that follow CA's lead.

The only "out" is if they can sell enough zero emission vehicles for credit. Freightliner and Spartan cannot, so their chassis' can no longer go under an RV in these states. Ford has implied they might have enough credits and a chassis that works, but not sure how common that one is.

Manufactures of chassis can no longer purchase credits to offset the EV mandate and 11% of vehicles (chassis) built must be EV in 25.

Freightliner Custom Chassis (FCC) and Spartan don’t qualify. Ford qualifies. FCC is a seperate company from Freightliner CURRENTLY. Watch for that to change.

Montana LLC will work, but you are buying out of state. Most RV manufactures will not be delivering product to CA dealers in 25.

Sprinter van chassis are manufactured by a division of Mercedes. So they meet the 11% of vehicles built in 2025 be EV.

A few RV manufacture are requesting the federal government get involved and limit the power of CARB.

IMO, CARB is passing legislation that is NOT voted on by anyone. How the F can CARB be legal if on one votes on what they make up or those on the board

Just buy and register it out of state.
A few states have RV snowbird laws that allow you to register an RV even if you are not a resident. You just have to take physical possession in that state.

This is for brand new diesel pushers. They can no longer be sold new here in CA.
CARB compliance for used Diesel pushers pre dpf and pre obd2 will have to do a visual inspection once a year. Post dpd/def and obd2 will have to smog twice a year.
This is all on the CARB site. All you have to do is enter the vin number and you get directed for what your compliance will be
