I can feel that video...lol

I lived in Mammoth and raced on the Mammoth Mt. Ski Team....

In '94 we hosted the World Cup. Now, on World Cup / Olympic courses, they literally get out there with aerators (like they pull those plugs of dirt out of grass fields with) and fire hoses and water down the course so it can freeze overnight. All skiers have skied in "icy" conditions....this was a new level....the former "icy" stuff was like powder after this. Anyway...our race was the following weekend, on the same run, and it was still frozen solid. I was sharpening my edges with a diamond hone that week...twice a day.

Race day comes....I'm standing in the start gate in an old ass 4th hand banana yellow Spyder speed suit, shin guards, arm guards...ready to party....the beeper goes off and I'm outta the start gate. 5th gate I slipped a bit and hooked a tip, then picture that donkey....but in a bright yellow speed suit.

I went through the lights with the fastest time of the day, but sadly I missed most of the gates (excepting a few bamboo ones...which hurt like a bitch).

There was no slowing down or stopping until I got gathered up by the net at the bottom... I was black and blue from my neck to my knees for about a week...felt like I got caned like that graffiti guy in Singapore.

Poor Donkey lol.

Cartwheeled bombing some steep and deep powder in my highschool days.
Out of control flying W. No stopping myself. Gravity and inertia took over.
Dislocated both my shoulders.
Shoulders are garbage 34 years later...
