Just picked up a new to us, 2014 Chaparral 264 with 8.2 mag 380 Hp

everything works fine on the boat,

it has the factory installed option for captains call/choice exhaust. It's the Corsa system.

I noticed whether the switch is engaged or not, the exhaust continues over the side, with only a small reduction in sound,

In the videos I saw, it looks like the exhaust would be completely diverted back through the outdrive.
making it relatively quiet when needed.

both sides are identical, it looks like the solenoid's are working from observing the switch is going back-and-forth.

Is it possible that something is bent or not functioning properly inside the system? As far as I can tell it's identical on both sides,

I have the same system on my Cobalt. Only a few things that can be bad: Solenoids not working ( assuming you checked the electrical connection / power to solenoids) or the "flapper" inside is bent. If you are somewhat mechanically inclined, the repairs are easy.

I found used solenoids at a local boat shop, they also had the flappers off of another boat.

I've been having problems with mine as well. Bought new solanoid and the rebuild kit with flappers and the new flapper shafts with new orings. Still not working right so i think we are going to run some relays like the hatch rams to get direct power from battery instead of all the way to sitch on dash and back.

loud pipes save lives 😁 i had that issue one of corsa exhausts had to replace a actuator & relay. the relay would get hot when the switched was used it was not fully closing would stay half way open.

thanks Tom, chatting with some owners with same system, what you say appears to be a common problem, especially on older models.
One think I read is to avoid switch system on/off above 3000 RPM... or at least not in the highest RPM ranges. ...makes sense.

Both Selenoids appear to trigger and function, I think I have Bent or Broken Flapper... the whole repair kit with all hardware is $199 @ pair.

I forgot to add, that you shouldn't actuate the system above engine idle. As stated by 707, I did the same, by adding relay's for the solenoids, but that was just me, chasing out the original issue.

Hope it works out for you.
