I wonder why they couldn’t have ran a compound turbo setup. But hey good job on the boating content!To introduce some boating content to this thread. Volvos TurboDiesels that they put in front of their IPS pod drives are a supercharger over turbocharger setup. The Superchargers are on something similar to an AC clutch and run at idle up to about 1700RPM where they will cut out when the turbos finally start spooling. Apparently the engines dont have enough compression for an ignition event without constant boost so Volvo had to add a blower for the engines to be able run at the lower rpms.
