Just rolled into havasu and saw this mess around my salt container for softener. I was just here two weeks ago and everything was good. I don’t see any rips around container

I filled my tank up to full with the salt and It split. Had to replace it.

Thanks, that’s what I was thinking. Just didn’t find an obvious tear or leak

Check the backwash line.

I had mine installed by a soft water service and he said to always keep the salt level just under the surface of the water and not to overfill the tank with salt.

I have see pressure regulators fail and cause some weird problems with water softeners in Havasu. Water pressure in some areas of Havasu is really high.

So the way those systems work, is the media canister, the one with the mechanism on top, has valves in in that send water into the tank with the salt. It make a brine solution, then it extracts the solution from the salt tank, and puts it back into the media canister. So, as said, it could have been over full, or the purge line is plugged, or obstructed. They have an automatic purge cycle to get rid of the brine, that is based on total volume of water that is treated.

The brine fill and return line is broke. The first thing it does is fill the brine tank then the flow reverses and it sucks the brine into the ion exchange canister. When the line breaks or isnt sealed properly the brine tank will fill but not get emptied in the next cycle so the water just sits there and when a recharge happens again it will overfill the tank. I've seen this many times.

by the buildup around the brine tank i would suspect its got a crack in it. i just filled mine tuesday with 120lbs of salt. theree is a float valve in the brine tank that is supposed to shut off the flow of water into the brine tank if the water level reaches a certain height. they get stuck sometimes and brine tank will also over flow.

Given the tank is empty, I would go out on a limb here and say that it is not an overflow issue. My money would be a cracked tank.

You could literally use a rubbermaid trashcan, just put those guts in it, they are super simple.
