OK, Here it is.

Men and Women are, in fact, 2 very different species.

Men (real men anyway) feel compelled to provide and protect.
Many times, this excludes emotion and difficult decisions must be made. A real Man will accept (solicit, in fact) advise and opinion from his spouse, but in the end He feels that these things are his responsibility.
This is why Men are constantly called "control freaks".

A Man feels driven to keep things in order (at least in his mind), all pieces of the "puzzle" must fit. BUT, there is that one piece (spouse) that constantly keeps moving around, changing the dynamics of his "puzzle".
This is the root of the anger that men can not reconcile, and is the root of his frustration.
Unfortunately, most men can not recognize this, or reconcile it. So they "get mad". If that one piece would stay in place, He would be happy. But that one piece has it's own ideas, and solutions to problems. Sometimes their ideas and solutions are the best ones.
A real man will recognize this, and understand that it is a "team" effort. He will accept good input, without rejecting it out of hand.
The problem? It is difficult for Men to be able to do this without appearing "weak" to their spouse. It is a fine line between being a "real man" or being a pussy.

The catch:
When the woman "gets her way" (which she wants, to be acknowledged), and begins to strip the Man of his responsibilities as a man, She begins to view him with contempt. The woman does not accept the fact that her own actions have brought this on. Soon, she can't stand the sight of him.

Men ask, "Why are women NEVER satisfied"?
It is a valid question. Most women see a problem, or deficiency in every aspect of their daily life. Something ALWAYS needs to be improved on or "fixed", as it were.
Women seem to never be able to sit back and say "My life is good, I am lucky, and I am enjoying each day".
Men, in general, have a built in knowledge that life, relationships, and daily existence is as good as you perceive it to be.
Nothing is perfect, so enjoy that it is good.
Women in general do not grasp that each day is a day gone by and the next thing you know, your life is over and your still looking for a Harlequin ending, instead of having enjoyed your life.

Summary:
All this assumes that the parties involved are "typical" couples, with no imbalances or severe emotional troubles.

Debbie and I are both 3rd time spouses. We have all the issues of any couple, but we both know that EVERY disagreement is just these different mindsets colliding.
And we ALWAYS end up laughing about it.
She wants to help run things, and is very smart, but would drop me in a second if She ever saw me as weak.
Lucky for me, when I agree with her, she sees it as strength and not insecurity, in fact quite the opposite.

So, ladies, when your Man is being a jackass, maybe he is really just being a man. There are times when Men MUST shut off all input, go stone faced, and do what THEY think is right for the good of the family or marriage.

It is the whole "Natural selection" theory at its' most basic level.
The cheerleader goes for the Jock. Survival of the fittest.
Continuation of the species.
