That's a new one to me, also the $499 for clear stickers on the door edge that look like Sh$t after a while. they tried to pull that on me with new truck and I told them to take the stickers off the doors! Ultimately they left them but took the fee off.

I haven’t found one place willing to etch my vin on my cat. I tried a muffler shop, a Chevy dealership. No deal.

I assume I have to wait for one of those police sponsored events where they do it and go to that. Problem is the PD in my area couldn’t care less about anyone’s cats so I’ve never seen them have an event.

And no this is not a Vin vin.

The cops can't do anything if it's not etched if not caught red handed. The officer that made my police report. Said he pulled over a vehicle matching the description of catalytic converter thief. Thief had a Sawzall and a few cats in the car. No etching and no witness. He had to let him go with the freshly stolen cats.

He advised me they offer the etching for free once a month at city hall. And to please do it so they can bust the thief if caught. My truck is still straight piped where the cats were so nothing to etch. Does still have 2 under the hood. Since they only stole 2 of the 4.

Right next to that sawzall in the back seat is an angle grinder to deal with the etching....etching is a waste of time, it's just a thing to make idiots feel like the PD is actually doing something about the problem.

There is a way to solve it, but nobody is willing to let citizens shoot assholes they catch in the act....that would be mean.
