Subway foot long. $17. I was like “whaaaaat?!?” Yes I added bacon, it’s the only thing that has flavor there.

Every dinner now is over $100 with my family of four going out.

Seems like the new standard for checkout computer screen is "How much do you want to tip"?.......Papa Murphy's does it now

Even the market is crazy went for two 1 lb lunch meats and a few frozen veggies. Spent 43.00 couldn’t believe it it seems to be getting crazier every day.

Papa Murphy’s is the place that puts the pizza together, and you go home and cook it, right?

Wife and I comment on this weekly. Yes we have curtailed out dinning out because of this as well. Looks like "transitory" inflation is starting to overstay it's welcome

Going out to eat has just become a sore point for me. I eat in as much as possible. Eating out has become expensive, the food is not that good, long waits, and basic customer service doesn't exist.
What gets in my head is I can eat out or save the $600 a month and apply it to something that will provide opportunity. $600 is a lot to flush down the toilet monthly.

McDonald's here in Moab has a sign advertising $19/hour.

Your footlong was really $8.89. Seems to me it's gone up almost $2. Aren't they pretty regularly $6.99? Then you got the meal, bacon, tip, sales tax, etc. So did you previously pay about $15 for this meal? You probably paid $13 and the price has gone up about $2 then the $2 tip, which I've never seen on the machine before and I would not pay it, personally. I will throw a buck in the bucket per sandwich ONLY if I think they do an exceptional job and they smile a lot. But that's me.

I avoid putting any kind of tip on a computer. Taxation is theft :)

Covid has saved us a fortune when it comes to eating out, we don't do it.

Two reasons: It ain't that good and my wife still can't smell/taste anything.

Groceries have gone up, but so have our incomes... it's a wash.

I was shocked at $32 here in Moab a couple of days ago. Seems like it was not long ago it was $18.99. o_O

and it is a different mix. Lower alcohol % in beer sold in Utah.
Last time we traveled to Moab, we loaded up in Vegas so we had enough

Inflation is extremely damaging to everyone. Except government....

Think its bad now? If Biden's $3.5 trillion spending bill passes, it will get significantly worse
It will definitely get worse. Emperor palpatine yellen took one out of RD's playbook and is claiming we will be in a recession in......you guessed it....

2 weeks lol

Hit the nail on the head. I can't stand waiting around for crappy expensive food. I can make food at home that is better than 90% of the places out there, Much more realaxing as well.

As for subway, it is the bottom of the fast food barrel. If it were free food day at subway I would not eat that crap. The bread tastes like paper and everything else inside tastes the same, like nothing. Jersey Mikes is edible and ok for fast food but still not that good. Other than In n out, the fast food places are all going further down the toilet. The Habit was a good spot like 6-7 years ago, now that they are owned by Yum brands the qualtiy sucks. Dried up buns, luke warm hard patties, totally skimp on the chicken etc. just a notch above Carls now.

When we go out as a family, it's maybe once a month, and only to a couple of places which are "mom & pop". They've been good, and haven't raised their prices yet.

Grocery stores are a whole different ballgame. With my daughter moving into the dorms, one would figure we'd be lighter on the food bill here. Not at all. I don't like where this is headed.

I ditched buying a combo at a sandwich shop or any fast food place years ago. Overpriced soda and chips! As a family, we do the same. No tip, unless the workers are cool/engaging.

Sit down restaurants we pretty much avoid. Service & food is subpar relative to prices. And beer/wine/cocktail is pricey.

Groceries are way up in price.

What’s up with food truck pricing? They charge more than a good sit down restaurant while largely lacking the physical space rent overhead. I avoid those like the plague.

I think roach coach pricing started to change when they weren't just rolling into a jobsite with "la cocharache" on the horn. Now they think they're "catering trucks"
I blame hipsters.

Yes. Hardly ever go out anymore.

Service sucks, food sucks, there is no benefit anyone.

Started shopping at Stater Bros and my grocery bill got a LOT less. Costco helps as well.

Checked out the 99Cent Store the other day. Their grocery prices are truly amazing! Makes you realize real quick how much mark up there is on food.

We do Walmart for regular groceries, Smart and Final for fruits and veggies, Stater brothers for anything else. .99 store is good as well for the basic stuff.

There aren’t any Mexican markets around me or I’d be going there.

We can eat (family of 4) for under $25 at any fast food restaurant on the road. Buy what’s discounted and leverage the value menu.

Inflation is higher in Canada and pretty much every restaurant I go to has raised there prices. My sushi place, I order the sushi boat for two. It was $37 and now is $42. I order extra rolls and just my order is over $50 now. Go to Five Guys a lot. My bacon cheeseburger and small fries was $13 something and is now over $15. Add in my smoking, two packs $30.15 and I'm almost two packs per day. If I quit eating out and stopped smoking, could lease a nice car instead.

Whole Foods costs your whole wallet. Smart and Final is interesting. It’s like a crossroads of Costco, Walmart, and a restaurant supply store. Need a 6lb block of cheese? Got it!!

Yeah. Expensive for sure.

The messican markets used to be great. But the have clearly figured out they don't need to be super cheap. They are less, but not by much anymore. 😔

No, you could lease 2 cars.
