Who has the camp chef woodwind pro? Do you like it? What other smokers have you had to compare it to?

I'm not into smokers but got a few friends that are. They all swear on the camp chef smokers. Couldn't tell you why, but I do know they are the type the extensively research things before making purchases. One has a big one for the house and has a portable one for camping.

I like mine, bought it 5 years ago. Works well. Seems any flameout issues have been solved with a thorough cleaning of the firebox.

I have a "treager style" camp chef pellet grill that the wife bought me 6+ years ago. I use at least once a week and probably 3-4 times a week in the summer. It has never skipped a beat. I clean it probably once a year. All my buddies with teagers always seem to be having problems.

I’ve had two treagers. First one was built in Oregon and was bulletproof. Second one built somewhere else total garbage. Bought a camp chef Woodwind pro 36”. Great bbq! Unlike the treager, it can actually hit 500°. Has a slide lever that let’s you sear steaks And a smoke controller that actually works. Also, you can buy the ad on sear box propane that mounts on the side. Works great.

You like the woodwind better then the treager? I have a pit boss and want something better. I like the idea of adding charcoal in the woodwind pro. With the pitboss i can open the grate to seer, i dont see that on the woodwind so I think the sear box would be a must.

I must have an older model woodwind pro. It has the slide option for the grate. The sear box is a must, has a cast-iron grate and gets super hot. Leaves nice sear marks on the steaks. Can cook two filet mignon 7 to 10 minutes.

Does yours have the box above the burn pot to put charcoal or wood chips?

I have been checking out the new one and hope to find someone who has it that can provide feedback. Webber has a nice grill, i think the seermaster but i like the idea of adding charcoal in the burn box on the camp chef. The pit boss i have seems like it has a lot of hot and cold spots, maybe they all do.
