I am looking to purchase a camera that can be used for indoor vlogs/social media and also used at outdoor boating events and shows.

I have been looking at the Sony ZV-1F and a DJI Gimbal. I appreciate any guidance as I’m not knowledgeable in this area at all.

My best advice is to go down the YouTube rabbit hole. I have been doing that with photo cameras so not familiar with the latest "vlog" type set ups, it used to be Go Pros but seems a lot of options now days.

I would think a gimbal and a newer I phone would be your best bet as everything else is going to require external devices for editing.

If I ever get another camera for boat use I’m pretty sure it will be a 360.

It really depends on what type of videos you are looking to make. the options get overwhelming and depending on how into it you are looking to get will depend on if you need more than one camera. If you want simple easy to do videos then like dave said a newer iphone and gimbal will get you pretty far. the Cinematic mode on an Iphone will produce a pretty high quality video. If you want more action shots and better quality then you need to step up to a real camera. I am a sony guy and would film with a Sony A7 V. Once you get into real cameras you will then need different lenses for different shots. Full telescoping lenses for long distance shots and smaller lenses for Vlog style shots. Then if you want different action shots you will probably want an action camera, Go pro or DJI have great options. Action cameras can work good for Vlogging too but you lose the ability to get long distance shots. Whatever you get make sure you do some research and know what you want, What frame rate you want to shoot in, What resolution you want to shoot in ect. It took me a while to understand it all and I'm still no expert but Youtube is a great tool to learn about filming and all the different settings. As far as editing I always used Final Cut Pro. Once you understand the basics of the program it is actually super user friendly and easy to edit

We just picked up the DJI osmo 6 gimbal. We plan to use for socials and boating. Just learning how to use it now

I actually got one for Christmas. What do you like about it? Debating on whether or not I should keep it.
Have you tried it out yet? Been thinking about getting one. Ive done a couple videos with an old Hero 3 on a stick mounted into the light pole on boat…came out ok for what it is but those 360’s look real cool. Curios if you need a gimbal for it? Seems like the new tech would compensate a lot better than my old Hero 3.

My original plan was to mount on my arch and hope to catch some cool action.

I have the Insta360 X3 and X4 both take action great videos and pictures.
The nice thing with these cameras you can edit the videos on your phone and can take snapshots directly from the video for pictures and the image quality is pretty good.
The software in the camera stiches the video together so you don't see mount or stick holding the camera and has image stabilization so you don't need a gimbal.

You do have to be very careful with the lens. They stick out from the body of the camera and are easily scratched and pretty expensive to replace.
Both versions have lens guards that are replaceable. The X4 comes with the camera and the X3 you have to buy them.

I pulled these pictures off of a video from the X4.

The image quality on the regular go pros are definitely better than the 360 but the 360 is a really cool camera with alot of possibilities and still has a very good image quality. Most of the new action cameras including the 360 have built in stabalizers that work really well so no gimbal is needed. I will say the 360 is a little difficult when you first start editing the videos. Being 360 you have to move and angle the video how you want it. but once you figure it out it gets alot easier
