Copied from Yellowbullet:

This was posted Tuesday. I didn't see it here. Where are you guys in California going to register and park your Motorhomes after this ?

Not that I will ever be in the market for a new coach, but this sucks! This effects a lot of jobs, both in Cali and elsewhere. It also effects the used markets.

This is also piggy backed on the new requirement that diesel vehicles over 7500 lbs are required to be carb tested twice a year now and will be 4 times a year (at $300 a pop) as early as next year. My buddy just found this out the hard way couple weeks ago when his registration didn’t show up. Had to go get tested, got all the info first time first hand. He went that week and traded his diesel pushed in on a 5th wheel!

California is infinitely stupid! All that crazy registration fees lost as people register their motorhomes and f650’s and sport chassis and top kicks in Arizona and Utah and Wyoming and Montana and continue to drive in ca.

And what will all those poor vagrants do living on the side of the road in those 95 Winnebagos do? Gavin can’t figure out how to intelligently resolve any issues, just makes them worse. Fuckin dumb ass

You made it just in time.

Do you ever roll through the KCS facility in Wylie and points north? My place is about two miles west of the line in Farmersville.

What a f*cking joke. Even if you buy from another state they will not register it in CA until 7500+ miles.

Registering out of state will become even more common. I can see the state increasing enforcement for people with CA DL’s trying to avoid these guidelines.

Typical liberal policies that help nobody.

I thought I posted this up last week..... 🤷 It's OK, it's worth sharing again. Another gleaming example of shitty liberal policies ruining this state.
Terribly sorry about that. Going by the date on that article I posted, it's about a week old. I must have overlooked your original post. I'll try to do better next time !

Don't worry, he's just practicing for his Presidential run in 2028 to fuck up the entire country. With Kamala as his VP pick. You heard it here first!

I guess you could just buy a new motorhome and put it on a treadmill before you bring it to CA.
But if it needs smog testing four times a year at $300 a pop... That will leave a mark.

Hell I bet many motorhomes don't even move once in 90 days!

The lefties are digging their own grave.

But fly all the private jets you want.

Posted this somewhere else, but same answer here.

First they made them add DPF and go more green. CAT bailed out of the RV market. Then DEF and DPF (which created nothing but problems and thousands of rigs needing to be towed by another bad diesel tow truck) (and a million cardboard and plastic boxes of DEF fluid), then requires you to smog them. Then outright ban the sale of them. Because we all know these rigs who mostly average 2-3k miles per year is the reason we have such bad air quality.

This is exactly why we needed the DOGE that Musk and Vivek will run. Cut the bureaucracy and fat out of govt entities that create and enforce bad policies, all while they collect fat salaries, benefits and pensions.

It’s not all new motorhomes.
It is the chassis manufactures that can’t meet the 11% threshold of EV’s come 2025 and you can’t purchase credits any longer to offset the 11%.

Freightliner Custom Chassis (separate company from Freightliner) and Spartan chassis don’t meet the 11%.
Ford does.

I don't know how an unelected entity can have such a damning effect on the populous of this state. I really hope doge comes after carb but as it's a California state entity I'm not sure they will have the power to do anything, even though their policies affect the entire nation.

I would like to see Trump discredit CARB.
No one votes on who gets on the CARB board (governor appointed) and no vote on policies they pass.

Some of the EPA gas stove BS was killed in court, becuase unelected officials were passing regulations that were not voted on by elected officials. Hope the same principle can apply to CARB.

When you think about all the Motorhomes and RV's just involved with Motorsports alone...round tracks, drag races, dirt track races, boat racing, and I know you guys like to get out in the desert and ride and race too. That's alot of vehicles right there, and I know I left out plenty more.

If you spend a couple of minutes (No more please, else you puke 🤮) giving a quick peek at just who is CARB and their life's passions, you'll notice they're all "Environmental Extremist" liberals, mostly lawyers, and in general having almost nothing in common with those of us they're tasked with representing.

Reason # 423, that I'm glad I'm old. 🥳

Exactly, gut the EPA's bullshit policies, enforce the interstate commerce clause forcing California to accept out of state registered trucks into CA regardless of CA's bullshit rules they impose on vehicles registered within the state. Done.

All the trucks will get registered in other states and CA can suck it when they lose all that registration and insurance money

Tbd if ford will even use those credits for the RV market. If they do, prices will rise.

Ford will likely reserve their credits for their own truck sales.

I don't need to move there I just need a plot with an address. So far I've got Az, Utah, and Montana.

He's just going to see more out of state coaches. Guys buying big Coaches are not going to stop.

Ford meets the 11% of EV’s, so it is not an issue for Ford.
The credits used to be purchased to offset the % of EV manufactured. The Oct 28th CARB modification, took away the ability to purchase credits from manufacturers who had credits to sell.

I often wonder what it will take for even the most die hard Californian conservatives to leave. The gastapo at their doorstep dragging their women and children away and seizing their vehicles and guns or what?

CARB insists that this regulation gives flexibility to chassis manufacturers in being able to buy and sell ZEV credits to allow them to build combustion engine chassis. The amendments approved last month will also permit secondary vehicle manufacturers to buy and sell these credits. However, neither of these provisions will guarantee that chassis manufacturers will utilize these credits, which are likely to be expensive on the open market and would add another layer of cost to producing a motorhome with a combustion engine chassis.

Manufacturers (e.g., Daimler, Ford, GM, Mercedez Benz, Navistar, Stellantis, etc.) are required to sell ZEVs as a percentage of their annual total sales. Because chassis manufacturers have no ZEV chassis that are rated for applications to motorhomes, they have been informing motorhome manufacturers that they will not be able to provide them with any internal combustion engine chassis for motorhomes for the California market.

To be honest, if I weren't pushed by my employer, I would not have left. I just got to the point in life where my desire to GTFO had given way to contentment/complacency. Ties like family, familiarity, job stability and most of all, money on hand hold people in place. The amount of money my employer shelled out to move me was way beyond my means. There was a point in my younger years where I put all my eggs in the "get out of town basket" and lost. We rebuilt our assets, licked our wounds and figured that was the end of it. Starting all over half way through life was tough the first time, I had no desire to try it again. Now that we're gone, we're learning to love where we are. But, distance from family sucks. I also miss the impromptu trips to the beach. I don't miss the never-ending homeless issues, constant crime, ridiculous traffic snarls and out of control prices.

Anyone have any idea's on who to write letters to stop all the CARB crap? Time to start pushing back, basically what we haven't done in this state in the last 50 years. The Red wave is strong and we need to start flexing.

With the majority being governor appointments or reappointments, the only meaningful "Pushback" would be to start at the top.
If you read the link I provided in post # 23, both the problem and the solution will both become painfully obvious.

Although seeing these recent voting results does offer a glimmer of hope. The Red Tide has two years, any promising strong candidates that Trump might be willing to help promote ?

I'm surprised your CARB hasn't tried to regulate the pollution out of Chinese and Indian industry and vehicles. The board members sure seem to have God like complexes.

Never seen one, but if Ford could still sell due to EV offsets, a 650 Super C with a Cummins would work out OK for most. The problem would still be a big coach with a 500 wouldn't be available. The problem I see though, is how long before the older coaches get banned from use in Cali?

But i could see a day CARB bans older coaches from being registered in CA.
Trump needs to end CARB

Just read New Mexico is adopting the same CARB rule associated with heavy duty trucks in 2027.
One of the poorest states in the US, and the leftist government is doing everything possible to keep it that way. The great majority of tax revenue is produced by oil and gas, yet the governor and legislature are fully behind destroying the industry.

EPA rules allow the states to set their own emission standards and policies. I don't think that is a bad thing, but CARB has been out of control for a couple of decades.

What I really don't like is CARB acting as a defacto emission regulator for the automotive industry. What you need is a wholesale change in the Sacramento, but CARB seems to survive the occasional political shift also.

Fine with this boomer Californian, but the Feds set up this fiasco when they allowed California a special waver under the "Clean Air Act". It's obviously time to revoke that waiver while Trump's at the helm. 👍

This not only a CA thing. A few of the states below currently have non-resident RV registration laws. Colorado has laws that limit state tax on RV purchased in select areas as an example.

1.1.2025 = California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Washington will take effect with the 2025 model year.

1.1.2026 = Vermont will take effect with the 2026 model year.

1.1.2027 = Colorado, Maryland, New Mexico, and Rhode Island with the 2027 model year.

States that adopt California emission standards (so-called Section 177 states) are required by federal law to maintain consistency with California’s requirements. Thus, amendments made in California will eventually be adopted by the states listed above.

So glad our Governor Glenn Youngkin got us out of the California emission standards. We were headed down the mandatory EV road, and he pulled the plug on it, which I'm glad he did because the citizens of the State never voted on going EV for anything !
