Teaming up with Andretti. They will become a “works” team a few years later building their own engines. Would love to see them duking it out with the big boys. It was about time since Liberty (an American company) owns F1.

I think the biggest problem getting them in was the other teams having to share the money with another team.

Good luck to them I guess. F1 is a ghost of what it used to be.

Really happy for Michael Andretti. Ridiculous how hard he had to fight to build a team. "LETS GOOOOO" 🇺🇸

Do you know that Michael was removed from Andretti Global a couple of months ago? He is no longer involved with the IndyCar team or the F1 effort.

The announcement identifies the team as Cadillac/GM. While the new CEO of Andretti Global, billionaire Dan Towriss (also the CEO of Gainbridge/Group 1001) is involved in the F1 team, the only connection to Andretti is Mario's designation as a brand ambassador and advisor. He holds no position of authority.

Not really. The team is Cadillac/GM, officially TWG Global. No Andretti branding at all. It will use Ferrari power units in 2026-2027, and a GM power unit starting in 2028.

I did not. Damn lmao. I do remember reading that Michael's involvement was a major hang up, which I never really understood.

Sounds like we are we are getting a yellow and black Gainbridge Cadillac. That's cool.

I see we are now debating semantics, never happens in this forum 😁. This was the article in CNBC. Yes TWG Global now owns Andretti Racing, I get that. But the article goes on to say Mario will be a/THE DIRECTOR on the team.

I don’t dispute your racing bona fides, you are likely more in the know than CNBC, I’m just sayin. It is winter after all.

He's been called "a" director, a title that doesn't delineate any responsibilities, not "the" director. In most media he is characterized as an "ambassador."

Since TWG is not a public company, being named a director does not confer any control or financial significance on Mario. My information says he is essentially a figurehead, and nothing in the press disputes that.

Mario has had nothing to do with running the Andretti IndyCar team. He doesn't know anything about the workings of F1. He won't be attending GPs around the world, he's in his 80s.

His function for Cadillac F1 is going to be like broken down ex-boxers shaking hands in front of Vegas casinos.

What is the ROI on GM trying to play in F1? They will spend a mega grip of money, for what? It isn't going to sell new Caddys or Vettes.

Remember what they did when Cosworth designed them a motor? What did they do with it? They put it in Vega.
