Anyone camped there before? Going to go see daughter and granddaughters for Christmas and they live in Buellton. Or if anybody has other suggestions. Motorhome and jeep.

Have stayed at FF before, very nice but maybe looking for something a little more affordable if possible. Plus I could take the little girls fishing one day maybe

For sure, check fishing reports to see what's biting and call the local tackle shops, you can rent a boat as well.

Cachuma is great cause there’s so many other things to do in the area. Solvang , Buellton, Los Olivos , Los Alimos, etc. check out site #455 it’s where we typically stay.

Just checked rates a FF. Over twice the cost of staying at the lake so maybe a no brainer. Just curious if anyone has stayed there to recommend a spot or area. Map looks pretty large so no idea which area is better than another.

My old boss has a bench above the ramp dedicated to him. Ron Levesque. Most fishing is trolling or from boat as the bottom is shall and takes your step up.

I have stayed there before....It was not long after a fire. We enjoyed it but there is a lot of stickers that I had to be careful with concerning the pup. If the stickers are there it will be a nightmare for Charlie. Pretty quiet and inexpensive as I remember. FF is way too crowded for me.

Gotta hit the danish pancake place right there next to FF.....awesome danish pancakes/breakfast

I guess I’m going to have to call the park office. On line won’t show anything over 30 foot and if you have stayed there Tom, I know there has to be something for my coach at 34’ and yeah stickers aren’t good.

That spot appears to be booked. How long is your rig, it shows 30’. I’m 34’

I was in a 34' Class A with a 24' trailer when I stayed there. Can't remember the spot number but it was pretty close to the entrance for easy in and out

Also....It was probably 6-8 years ago so I would guess maybe they have changed their rules there possibly for rig size

I think there is also a casino a little further out from Solvang that may have RV parking. Search for it and see if that might work

Sounds like you have the RV area already figured out. The little hamburger stand down by the ramp has entertainment on some days. Guy with the guitar, etc. Shoot up to cold Springs Tavern for a tri-tip sandwich or a drink. Cool place. I like it there, haven’t been for a while. Their quagga program is pretty strict, probably why I haven’t been.

Yes.....that Cold Springs Tavern is cool. We used to ride the Harleys out to there and I forgot the name. Good recommendation for him for sure

FF was nice when we stayed there a few years back but yeah way too big and busy for me. Expensive as well. Took me 30 minutes to read through the rules and expectations. No thanks.

Maybe you will get lucky and the Farmers Market will be going on in Solvang. It is by far the nicest FM I had ever seen. Lots of fresh breads, veg, fruits, etc. It was outstanding and lots of vendors there

My family has been going there for years. I think my brother and parents were there earlier this year. Great campground. I always had a blast there when I was a kid. It REALLY sucks that the lake is a non-contact lake (Dumbass Santa Barbara liberals). My parents and brother's 5th wheels are both well over 30' and they have never had an issue getting in and out of there. I'm sure there are areas in the campground you can't get a rig that big into, but they have never had a problem getting into and out of there.

yes.. Cachuma is crude compared to Flags... very limited full hook-up spots. Predominately dry camping and huge spots, Most have enough room for 2 rvs.

FF=$$$ but a lot of activities for all ages... I guess it depends on your needs and wants

Wasn't Cold Springs a Pony Express Drop off Area in the 1800's?

CalBob.....You and the kids would love this. Make the time and go and it will be a good day for you guys. Buy bread, cheese and some drinks while there and have a great lunch in a beautiful setting. The FM deal

I’ve spent a little time there…very pretty. You’re in the right area for wine thats for sure. Recommend the Bubble Shack in Los Olivos and Babcock Winery off of Hwy. 246. Babcock has the best Rose’ “Love Garden" on the planet…I’m actually picking up 15 bottles of wine from there on Thursday. The Sky View Motel is a must see in Los Alamos, they have a restaurant called “Norman’s”, you will know why when you see the motel…killer dining, no pun intended. Opposite side of the freeway in Los Alamos there is a place called “Bob’s Well Bread Bakery”, This is a must stop! Incredible baked goods, sandwiches and more…family owned and been there a long time.

The non contact part made me laugh when I read that. Are they afraid if women go swimming all the fish will smell like that? Seriously though, I can’t believe that would be more harm that boats running all over.

Talked to the guy at the gate and he said my rig would fit most everything. Only there are not anyfull hookups available which is ok for the 4 or 5 days I would be there. I can get water and electric 30 amp if I can get the dates I want .
