This has been building for a long while……..

When I was in Australia, I spent a lot of time thinking about my future with RDP. Mainly because I no longer live in AZ, or boat Parker or Havasu. And frankly, I do not really care if I ever boat there again. So why should I continue. My wife thinks I waste a whole lot of time on this site.

I am tired of the politics. I am tired of the thread hijacks. I am tired of my threads being turned, for somebody’s agenda.

Stuff I cannot do…….

I can’t give boating lessons.

I can’t give my interpretation of Maritime Law.

I can’t post my dock, boat, boatlift

Lots more. It’s because everyone wants to either argue……. Or tear me down

Sure……. I love the fun threads. However, those are becoming less and less.

I would like to point out that I boated many members around SoFlo. Since I am leaving, I will share the secret they alll agreed to keep. They all swore to keep secret that I wouldn’t except 1 nickel for boat gas for any reason whatsoever. I am hoping that the reader might get a glimpse of my character. You reach out to go boating in SoFlo with me, only to learn it will be at my expense. You should see the shock it created. One exception, was when I lent Steaming Rice my car and he filled it with gas. He did not have to do this, but I think he gave me a taste of my own medicine. lol His character is unquestionable.

Ive enjoyed the stock threads……….. but in hindsight, I regret, without a doubt, the NVDA thread I started. I really just want to walk away from it. I hate the thread. I truly should have kept that info to myself. If I were the braggart that I have been accused of being……… I would have a PLTR thread. I have resisted letting RDP know how much I own. I mention this because I didnt have to wait 11 years for an explosion. All I did was make a mid 6 figure purchase when it was $15. It’s currently competing with my NVDA holdings. Theres no way I am discussing my BOLD purchase, and why.

Just some random ranting……

Here is something to think about. When discussing a boat for sale in SoFlo, a qualified interested party does not ask…….. How fast is it? If they do, you know the mentality of your potential buyer. (What’s its range, what’s it best fuel consumption at what rpm, etc) Only the Bozo’s ask how fast is it.

How you guys can boat it the hot Arizona summers without shade is a mystery to me. But what do I know?

For those of you that follow my posts and generally like me………. I am sorry.

It’s time to take a break. I might be back, I might not. I really don’t know. I’ve stopped caring.

I will share this nugget…….. After several years of relentless harassment by a neighbor, I just filed a lawsuit. So don’t envy my situation. I am considering selling everything and moving on because of the never ending harassment. It’s because I own 2 docks instead of 1. Jealousy. Which I am no stranger too.

Again……… I should have done this when I got back from Australia. I am sure those that don’t like me will be sure to let you all know in this thread. I fully expect the trolls to come out from under the bridge? Either way, I won’t see it. I am logging off now.

I wish you all the best!

I love Florida and would love to haul my boat out there some day. Been there many times all over the state but have never boated. It is definitely a different kind of boating than Havasu.

I don't post a lot of threads here, mostly if I have a question about something or if I take a trip (road or boating). I'll comment on some here and there. Every once in a while I'll comment on a political thing.

I do check the site almost every day though. I don't do any social media stuff nor do I watch TV so the Lounge is kind of my news source. If some one posts some thing I think I need to check out then I'll search other sources for more info.

The thing about this site is, you can participate as much or as little as you want. You don't have to engage in negativity and reply to everything anyone has to say (about you or your opinions). I ignore many posts that I don't agree with as I don't really want to argue with anyone that refuses to consider opposing view points. That's what keeps this site entertaining for me.

There are time that I don't check in here for a few days or even weeks. Usually because I'm traveling. I'm headed to KOH tomorrow so I won't check in here until next week. I don't miss it when I'm busy but I do like the entertainment value when I'm home. Good luck in your future endeavors.

That's too bad to hear. There are a lot of us like myself that like to read and watch from the shadows. I've enjoyed reading your threads and learning your knowledge on all things boating. Like you said you probably will not get this but I wish you well.

I don’t post much either for the same reasons but there is definitely a lot of information on this site and many good people. I for one am sorry to hear you feel that way. I have never been to Florida but always wanted to go . hand figured you would be the one for the tour, I spend most of my time in Parker and along with you have never let anyone pay for gas or anything else while at my house. I loved the Nvidia post as I like people that are successful in a positive way and become wealthy beyond their dreams. This is the only social media site I am on and only one I care to be on. Hopefully you take some time off and come back. Have a great day

Hey Man, I sometimes frequent Hollywood, FL for boating, not sure if you're in that area.

Sucks to see you go, always thought you were a good asset to the site - and posted some amount of boating content. Also, chimed in and shared boating information from a professionals perspective. Anyways, we run a 33 Pursuit offshore down there, and sometimes fish, or sometimes cruise from Ft L down to Miami. Shoot me a PM with your number and I'll aim to stay in touch when in the area.

C-ya, totally understand where you coming from. Maybe take a break and stick around. Always enjoyed your content.

FWIW, I have been RDP member 18 years. Several months ago I was seriously kicked to the curb, thrown under Bus whatever you want to call it over a content issue that was pure shit. I tried staying away, worked out somewhat but RDP will never be the same for me. The membership is what I would miss,is what it is I guess.

Well shit happens, good luck with all your future endeavors. I do have your number in my phone and plan on calling you when I finally get to So Flo someday if I'm not too old to boat lol, not because I want a free tour or free boating trip, it's because I think you know your stuff, you are a good story teller and close to my age, hopefully offer will still be open then.

In the minority but....

Never understood suicide posts.

rdp Is in a constant state of Flux...yet it remains consistent.
Incredible highs with getting our country back followed by bitching about stupid shit.
There are some arrogant friggin LAM people on here and a whole bunch of incredibly down to earth people. Just like society in general.
I gravitate towards real&down to earth.

This place is often frustrating yet remains amazing because of the vast knowledge that people whole lot smarter than myself provide.

...Ya either get it for the ups&warts or ya don't.

In some cases I tend to believe, they've made some good friends on RDP and realize there's others like myself, that have truly enjoyed their contributions, so they're offering a goodbye and explanation for doing so.

Some will appreciate it for what it is, a polite gesture. Others, will of course use the opportunity to spin it in some negative manner they'll find personally gratifying. You know, because they are f*cking awesome in their own minds, just like everyday modern society.

Well, if it wasn't for the NVDA thread, I wouldn't have known what it was. As for PLTR...I still don't. People that troll I think just have too much time on their hands. I'm on here a lot, but it's broken up at random times throughout the day...in between episodes of "real life". Honestly, real life kinda sucks, this is my escape. Between appointments and hustling scratch, this is it.

There will always be someone with a faster boat, nicer house or more money. Just the same, there will always be those jealous of those things.

If you sell your pad, I'm picturing you'll find a place on an island somewhere. If so, at least send me pics 🤣 (Going to miss pics of manatees too)
I hope your daughter and grandkid are doing well, and you and your wife find a place to be happy in.

The good friends I’ve made here text me from time to time. The ones that don’t I’m not sure I’d call them good friends?

I'm personally sorry to hear this as I'v always enjoyed your post. Selfishly I have been wanting to seriously ask you a question that I'm sure would help me making a decision on choosing a trawler school. If you ever look back in and see my post any help would be very helpful. Thank you and hope you see your way back.

Sorry to hear of your burn out. I get it. There’s always someone or more than one that has to be negative and every issue seems to be polarizing these days.

The number of really cool folks who have left over the years for whatever the reason is sad.

You’d think we could all agree to just pick on jet boats and leave everyone else alone? 😂

C-Ya you post some great threads.

Im sorry but sounds like all the celebrities who were leaving after November 5th.

If I see a thread I'm not interested in I don't open it up. Now if some one thread craps they deserve a slap.

If this place is weighing you down by all means take a break, even if that breaks means never coming back.

I get the disconnect on different types of boating. I run around in an old aluminum walleye fishing boat and a pontoon when we go to the lake. I don't often post pictures or threads because that type of boating just doesn't fit here, but I still enjoy the Colorado River content.

I do enjoy your Florida boating content, and wish you calm winds and following seas on the rest of your journey.

Though I have to wonder what is in that Florida sunshine, seems like inmates that move there ends up flaming out on RDP.

RDP is many things to many people. I find it to often be a source of information, mostly about boating. Some of your posts have added to that information. Be well, be safe and all the best for you and your family. For me, you’ll remain the reason I can say, Hey, I know of a guy who . . . . . And that’s you and your amazing NVDA venture and success Enjoy it. As it’s been said, This isn’t a dress rehearsal.

Is it corny to say, C-Ya!? I'm sorry to hear you're leaving. I've always appreciated your perspectives in your posts and I wish I would have said that more to drown out some of the negativity. I totally get it though, and wish you the best in anything you do. That being said, beyond the negativity, I always find people on here to have vast amounts of knowledge I'll never have, and I can always count on opinions and advice.

… I have been around life for a very long time and what I have noticed over the decades is things start getting strange shortly after Thanksgiving and people don’t start getting their heads back together till sometimes 1 February or most times the middle of February… I just got a phone call from my friend the judge …didn’t matter how I responded to anything he said he would get angry…… By the end of the discussion when he realized he was not going to get me into his bad state of mind he kind of went. Oh well maybe I’ll come by in a couple of days … Yes, there is a lot of anger going around these days... I seem to be pissing a few people in my neighborhood off and I haven’t even done anything to piss them off… Is part of it the take over the Trump administration…🤷🏽‍♀️… Over the decades I have also found a lot of it comes from people spending way too much money on Christmas , and it takes till the middle of February before they get their finances back together …
… Any astrologers on here who might be able to see exactly what happened… with the alignment of the stars???…

You called it years ago when we first met at the Hallett regatta....

Boaters are Type-A personalities, and there's always too many Chiefs and not enough Injuns.

I'll miss your posts Jonathan, you put up great content.

Come back soon.

That's too bad, C-Ya. But I completely understand. I 100% agree with your comment about discussing boats lol. The boating style changes throughout the country, and so does the conversation about boating, but overall, they share most things in common. Then there is the southwest style - how fast and how much "look at me" does it have? They're boating in a drainage ditch for the most part - completely different ways. So they have no idea, ya can't really blame them...

My take is that most on the left coast rarely travel the country to see how the rest of the country/world live and enjoy life. I think it's because they dont care, they're too self-centered for the most part. Or they just can't afford to vacation outside of that little region. This is coming from someone who grew up in Newport Beach lol. I got out, though! The rest of the country does it right, and boating on big water in big, comfy cruisers with a/c and other useful amenities and fuel range is where it's at 100%

I wouldn't have shared the NVDA stuff, either. Nothing good ever comes out of sharing that type of info. I avoid sharing many details about my life on here and other sites - why? Stoked for you, though! I might indicate what kind of car or boat I have or where I travel, but everything else - I fly under the radar. Zero benefit to yourself by sharing or displaying.

There is certainly a west coast hospitality (or lack thereof) on this site. It's dominated by that mentality of the West.

I'm right there with ya C ya.
The thread jacking and non stop politics have changed it here, or for me anyways.
I'm guilty of being miserable per Dave so maybe that speeds up the burn out. Lol.

There's a handful of grown men here that simply like to argue. Or can't be wrong.
I can ignore them, but that's not why I'm here now or a decade ago..(hotboat?)

I avoid post now. If it goes politics I pretty much don't look anymore.

The burn out is real. The last few years in this country has made open political talk off the charts. I guess social media is the place to stand on a soap box.

If you don't come back...cheers.
If you do come back...also cheers.

Cya cya.

Adding something. There are some really good people on here. Like drive 100s of miles to help people.
That's gotta be a rarity on any other site

Hopefully, if there’s one bit of good information C-ya has passed on, it’s the truly amazing boating to been had in FL. RDP is a boating website. But, boating varies a bunch throughout our country and the world. What began as a “River” website, has expanded. I believe C-ya once did a large amount of his boating on what we called “The River”, now known as the Parker Strip. In almost no way is The River anything like southern FL boating. They’re both good. It’s like trying to compare cruising NPB harbor to boating on Lake Powell. I’ve been very fortunate to experience boating in S FL the Keys and many other areas around the world. Not all good, but most were. Since I’ve been on RDP, C-ya has provided some of the best info on FL boating I’ve seen. It should be on every boater’s bucket list. Many here have been fortunate to have C-ya as their gracious guide and host. He’s a good inmate.

I don't know, the people I've actually met in person have been really nice to me. Even many of those I haven't met, have been nice. Sure, there are a few curmudgeonly types here, but not really spiteful. Then again, I am no threat to the baller types.
The LAM crowd seem to be more jealous or maybe even threatened by others in those circles. I've met a few west coasters that had 20yo boats, drink beer, pack lunches...nice as can be...yet could buy and sell the LAM crowd.

Maybe it's harder to find good in the masses, but it's still there.

Will miss your posts C-Ya.
Always liked reading and seeing pics of how the other side boats.
People can learn a lot from you and wish that you will continue to share when (if) you feel the time is ever right again.

May I suggest you leave some sort of contact info should any of us want/need to get in touch with you in the future. Dave would be a good gatekeeper for that. He could forward any message to you while protecting your anonymity. Just a thought.

Take the time you need. Maybe come back and lurk a bit. Learn not to read all the comments or replies and if you do--know they are just someone else; s asshole, I mean opinion. I dont know how social media or public figures can withstand so much scrutiny--I sure could not.

Fair winds and following seas Sailor.

Not sure I’m taking this correct. I have never felt belittled or looked down upon on this site.
I have a 50 year old boat that many here have given me advice on. Even helped me change a motor.
Never once have I felt like they treated me beneath them
Even though I couldn’t even afford some the gauges alone on their boats.
That said. Sometimes things get heated but that’s just life.
