Didn’t really see a forum category for this question. I’m installing a boat lift on my dock. The bunks on the lift are 12’ long. The boat is 25’ long. I would assume the boat is heavier at the rear, but don’t really know where the boat should sit on the lift. Is there any rule of thumb for the center of gravity? The boat is a 25’ Formula. Any help appreciated.

Your transom should be close to the end of your bunks "just like your trailer".

Look at your trailer. The boat (and trailer) cg is slightly in front of your axle (center axle if trips or center of axles if tandem). 25' boat, i would say 1-2' in front of axle center should be close.

As said above, transom and rear of bunks should be close.

Thankyou guys, I don’t know why I didn’t think about the trailer. I suppose I could play with it on the trailer and find the spot that it tips either way.
