Who has done it and satisfied?
TireRack?
EBay?
Or ?
It's weird for me not having wholesale connections anymore so what's been the experience and quality of tire from these discount online sources?
Appreciate the feedback.

I got a great quote from the aftermarket parts guys at my jeep dealer. They did buy 3 get 4th free plus aggressive pricing.

I took the quote to Discount tire and they adjusted their original quote from $2,200 down to $1,450 To beat the dealer by $150.

Ive bought tires a few times from simpletire. I had good luck. Date codes were very recent, shipping was crazy fast (I think next day?) even on big tires like 37's and 40's.

I recently bought some 22.5's for my motorhome from amazon, and the date code was ~40 weeks old, but the price was 25% better than anywhere else so I didnt complain too much.

I mount my own tires, so I guess if you take the tires somewhere and pay to mount them the savings might dwindle.

I have purchased online before and had a local shop put them on. They charged for the installation. I came out a little bit ahead. If Discount will match, then try that route.

Tire and wheel combos from tire rack show up mounted and balanced. Easy 👍

Tires I’ve done too and just had them mounted at Discount. Also easy

And Tire Rack is now Discount. I have done both in the past, with good results and saved some money on mount/balance.

I recently used WalMart for a Black Friday sale to order tires and took them to WalMart to mount/balance with good results

Simpletire for tires for my dump trailers. But when I checked for trucks they were not much less than local.

Simple Tires and local install for the last 3 sets of family tires. Two sets before that from Tire Rack.

I have as ways had a tire guy. I like supporting local business and he was next door to our muffler shop.
But damn why keep using him when he was just as much as America’s tire?

I use America’s tire because they are everywhere and they rotate tires for free even if you didn’t buy from them.
Just had my truck tires rotated last week.

What do you guys do if you need to file a warranty claim? Seems like that headache alone would make you stick with a brick and mortar.

Order online from a place that has brick and mortar.

I’ve never done the warranties personally.

I am over Discount’s mount and balance pricing though. It’s crazy.

I have always liked & used Discount.

Free rotations, free re-balance, they stand behind their warranty. They honor tread life warranties and will apply discounts to new tires if the others are still under warranty.

Service after the sale matters.

I bought my Vortrac At - Interco Super Swampers from National Tire & Wheel and had them shipped to American Tire to have them installed. I spoke with the Manager at American Tire and he said just have them shipped to him. No problems, AT even offered a hazard warranty for them.

I used SimpleTire for motorhome tires this spring, 6 Toyo's shipped to Texas within 5 days and no one could touch their price.

…Neighbor Girl bought a set of tires for her Mercedes online... her factory Continentals were simply worn out.…her boyfriend ordered her Yokohama‘s instead of Continentals… A thousand bucks… they were $600 cheaper… than
Continentals… and still a very high-quality tire…

…The online company apparently had worked a deal with America’s tire… to do mountings and balancings …So her new tires were delivered to the Northridge Americas tire… The online company that she bought from swore they were not Americas or Discount tire???..:Hmmm???…
…This is where the ship began to sink… America’s tire used stick on weights.., At the right front wheel one of the weights flew off, got tangled between her alloy rim and the brake caliper… Northridge America’s tire, scratched their heads …they were idiots… So I called the corporate offices… an hour, long conversation with one of the big guys reps… A tow truck came out and flatbed-ed her Mercedes back to America’s tire… for about a week nothing happened… I finally was able to get the car towed to the body shop, that neighbor girl and her boyfriend use… for minor repairs… further chaos, America’s tire took forever to get her a new rim …and I believe the body shop had ordered both front brake calipers???…
… Neighbor girl had requested a rental car from America’s tire… She got no response… So both she and myself raised our voices to the corporate office… in the interim when she didn’t have a vehicle I was letting her use my Dodge ram diesel pick up…We did finally get her a rental car… Her first experience driving a new Tesla…

… The bottom line to this issue is…she was without a car for two days short of a month…🤔… If I had been my younger self …never would’ve gotten this out of control..: We ended up billing them for the rental of my truck, which they did send her a check for…No…the money was not for me…and we certainly did have a bit of fun later joy riding in a couple of rental Teslas…🤔

… So…buying tires online… If you do it right, you can save quite a bit of money… But I highly recommend that you have an independent tire shop that you’re very familiar with do the install and balance… certainly not America’s tire in Northridge Ca😳

My car pulls left ever since you replaced the tires...

Tire guy - you need an alignment.

Alignment guy - you have a bad tire.

Internet guy - call the tire manufacturer.

Buying tires online? No f'n way!

Fix your broken car 🤣

Discount here too with certificates and my last trip they really took care of me. Had a front tire I was going to replace both in the next month as they were worn and edges were rough.

One tire began leaking from sidewalk as it just cracked took it to discount ready to buy two fronts guy looks at it ask about certicates I said yeh have em he said I might be covered then.

Go inside looks on computer says we’re covering that tire 100 percent so I tell him replace the other tire as well. Basically got two for one. If he said that tire wasn’t covered I would have understood too it was almost at war bars.

I bought my most recent set of tires for my blue truck from Amazon. I love the guys at my local Firestone but their price for some plain Jane run of the mill 34 ATs was higher than giraffe pussy.

I was also taking off my 20s and switching to 18s but was keeping the same overall tire size. I ended up getting the tires and wheels for pretty much the same price as just the tires from Firestone. My tires are GTRadial. its my first set of truck tires from them but I did have GTRadials on one of my cars before and was very happy with them. So far no complaints.

Ebay! And you don't have to pay tax. I've bought several sets of tires from Ebay and have been very satisfied. There is even used tires on ebay that are a deal. And if you are willing to take professionally patched tires you can save huge. I've bought new, used and patched on ebay and never had a problem. The used tires are 100% satisfaction guaranteed too. Delivered to your front door, with free shipping.

What’s the secret to not having to pay tax on EBay…? Unless I’m missing something eBay has collected tax for years.

So today I'm lucky enough to find someone I indirectly knew from my dealership days still in the tire business that sells a particular brand of the tires found on ebay, amazon, simple, etc.
Mount, balance, tax, disposal plus 3 yr defect & road hazard wrty from his brick/mortar facility in my city. Price is equal to what I could put together separately for the same tires.

Purchased Nokian GW 4s all weather tires from Walmart. They showed up in 3 shipments in 5 attempted drop offs from Fed-X. The first guy I talked to at Wallmart said they could not be dropped off at the local store. Finally all 4 tires in hand set up first appointment at Wallyworld. Arrived on time and they said a 4 hour wait, one guy did not show up.
Said fuck it rescheduled and stopped 2nd time and they said 4 hours I said you told 1 hour get the tires installed . Took them almost 2 hours.
They are so unprofessional, never deal with them again!

Done Simpletire.com a few times prices were great quick free shipping but as with everything else prices have gone through the roof did Amazon for the last set purely to save some $. Got a tire shop around the corner that mounts them.

Another vote for tire certs at Discount. Even if I dont buy the tires from there…frequent rotations and rebalance (on MT tires) all done at Discount. They’re everywhere and it’s just easier.

I buy all my tires online. A local tire shop mounts and balances them. All these years of tire purchases, I have never had a problem with a single tire. I’m always money ahead going this way.

WalMart. Ya buy online at super discount and they install them at their service centers.

Latest was 6 Westlake 14 ply steel China bombs. Delivered to the house then $12 installation and balance. Heavy motherfuc3kers. MFSOB Brutal.

They've been reliable and RV forums users have had good experiences too.
1/3 the cost of Good Years. I like the Good Years on our last Toy Hauler but saved $2400 with the Westlakes that replaced the Westlakes that were on our current TH already. 50.000+ trouble free miles last set.

BTW: Discount/Americas has a white label (Westlake made) brand of 14 ply steel Toy Hauler tire $31 less than Walmart Westlake price per tire as well.

The tires I'm considering are manufactured in 3 different countries, China, India & US. The 3 main countries most all tires are made. Sold by a US owned company in Scottsdale.

Unless you are building a swing for the kids, you want French-made Michelins.

I was never a fan of Michelins. I've taken them off every vehicle I've ever bought that had them. sure they last forever and give you good fuel economy but they're rock hard and ride/grip like shite.

I believe most Americans don't know or realize that only Cooper & Goodyear are the last American tire companies that manufacture tires in the US😊

All Seasons Tires or whatever the junk Americans wrap around their rims is called are never good no matter who made them.

Sometimes they collect tax and sometimes they don't. I'm not sure what the trigger is. I just tried to buy some SXS tires and they did apply tax. Hmmm not sure. Probably has something to do with the seller.

I bought motorhome tires on line once, they arrived, and the date codes were almost 2 years old, was a nightmare to return them.

Walmart.com for the cars. Free shipping to the house. Local shop installs. No warranty, but the savings covers buying 1.5 new tires if needed. I always make sure there are good reviews on the tire on the site. Great prices on most, not usually on truck tires though, America’s tires usually beats them.
