She's always wanted one. I gotta get rid of this Q7 before the warranty is over in 3k ish miles. It's been a problem child. Made my money of that extended warranty big time. Found one here in AZ. Test drove it Saturday. Clean engine, undercarriage, body is straight, everything is there. 107k ish miles. Drives well. Anything I need to be aware of? Other than bad fuel milage? It's fixable by me and reliable at least. Don't laugh it's paid for. HAHA!

I've found a new appreciation for white H2's lately.

They are aging pretty well exterior wise too.

Sounds like you lucked out and saved a boatload of money at the same time! 🤣

It looks clean from the picture you shared. 👍
Surprisingly clean. Checked door jams, underneath. It's a winner.

I've had a 2008 SUT since new. has 150,000 miles on it and going strong. Only real issues I've had are O2 sensors going bad, and airbags in the back developing leaks. Both are easy fixes you can do yourself. Only issue I had was removing the O2 sensor, probably need a torch to heat it off.
Other than that I love it. Got rid of my 2018 Toyota Tacoma to keep the hummer instead. With 37" mud grapplers I only get 10.4 miles per gallon

Great feedback!! That’s more or less what I’m expecting. Saved 70k on purchase price, pay back some of it in fuel costs. 😂

this is great. My wife has a newer Q7 and also loves the H2's. She has always wanted one as well. Cheers to you.

I had one, look at rear bag control going bad and raising rear high. Some electric to do conversions to all springs. Rear main leaks on 6.2, drivers seat foam gives out in side. Other than that, great suv, very sorry I sold mine at 93,000 miles. Needed money for my company.

Everyone, who owns or has owned these vehicles has had great things to say about them. Rod hall beat the piss out of them in the stock classes in desert racing.

There's a lot to say about going back in time before the ridiculous amount of unneeded technology was in vehicles.

Same reason I went back to the JK
It was strange we looked at the Denali’s & cayenne’s. They are nice but don’t really do anything for her. And at the ridiculous prices of today. It’s was meh…

We’ll give this a try and at the least she can check that box.

She works from home & just drives around our 13 yr old & two Weimaraners anyway.

I was looking at them pretty hard recently. Then I saw the 3rd row was only a single seat and I was out. With 4 kids, that doesn't really work too well.

Looks really clean. They are basically a 2500HD with a different body right?
👍
Easy to work on, just a standard Chevy with a body swap.
They are 2500 Suburbans with a Hummer body and some upgraded diffs and transfer case. If I am remembering correctly, they have lockable diffs and transfer case and is full time 4wd with pretty low gearing in 4-low.

Going off memory, I thought the first ones only had a 5.3 with the 4L60, but I could be wrong. Later they went to the 6.0 with 4L80 then 6.2 with 6L80 (this is going off old memories though).

Up to 07 they were 6.0 with a 4 speed. 08-09 are 6.2’s with 6 speeds

For some reason i was thinking they were 5.3 in the first couple of years. Dunno why.

Sure would be cool to have one with a Dmax swap.

VERY NICE I think you both will enjoy it and you can still be able to go on most trails still. Not like this one can't get go anywhere off-roading it's too wide. Top speed 60mph and bucks like a bull that's pissed off. But it is still fun to drive around town and go bar hopping with.

Dmax is so complicated. Cool idea but after doing head gaskets on my Lbz “ain’t nobody got time fo dat”
I'm not too sure how well the Allison and engine would fit in the engine bay and trans tunnel. At least that is the reason GM always gave for not putting them in the Suburbans and the H2 and Sub's used the same frame and architecture.

The H2 would definitely benefit from the increased bottom end torque though. Maybe just a new 6.6 gasser with the 10-speed....

H1’s don’t go on trails. They make trails.

That’s a bingo! If I have to do an engine in it I’ll Montana plate it and go 6.6

The "easier" way to fit the Allison is a body lift on the Subs...there was also the 4l80, like they used only in the vans...and a de-tuned Duramax. I hear they don't last long. Never paid much attention to an H2 on the lift to look into an Alli swap.

We had a white 6.0 version new. we used it a decent chunk off-road and I even duned it...lol

We ended up lifting it on 37's and gas mileage went from really bad to terrible but it looked cool.

If i could find a H3T Alpha for a steal i would probably buy it and solid axle swap it.

My cousin sold his H3T about a year ago. I kept telling him its a very rare truck that was pretty sought after by come people. He never really advertised it too well and I dont think he got all that much for it (compared to what he probably could have gotten).

The best H2 to get is the 2009, very few made as it uses E85 gas so $2.50 a gallon in Cali. Rare is like my old one, red brick color leather. I miss it! Always buy a 2008 or 2009 as they had many updates including the 6.2.

The alphas had a 5.3 and are pretty rare. I wouldn't want the V6.

A lady at work has one, she bought it in 2008, after driving it for a few months she changed her license plate to read "2 MPG". She still has it and a economy car now, she loves the hummer, does a lot of camping/off-roading. Kept it stock and no issues talking with her besides the basic maintenance item. Would be sweet to have one and stick a blower on it

E85 has become hard to find & it produces less mpg/power output than regular fuel. I suppose if you wanted a max effort blower 6.2 it would be ideal though.

Nothing that GM made "very few" of is the best one to buy.....

Fuel costs about the same per BTU....doesn't matter what it burns, the dollars per mile are pretty close to being a wash.

Yeah, full 1/2 ton drivetrain. It was actually the inline 5 that was in the H3's from the Colorado
Yep my H3 has the online 5 it's my daily driver. Gets pretty good mpg works great for towing my Mini Boats but sucks for towing my 20' inclosed airplane trailer

I’ve got the H3 “Alpha” with the 5.3 V8 and 1/2 ton drivetrain in it.

Technically mines called a Championship Edition and they only made 500 of them in 2009. They were a tribute to Rod & Chad Hall for winning the 2008 Baja 1000, Championship & Rod Retiring from full time racing. The CE was basically an Alpha with other special accessories included.

Mine also has the adventure package which is 4/10 gears, steel front dif, and front & rear lockers. Comes standard on 33’s but clears 35 stock.

Our straight 5 cylinder couldn't pass a gas station..but we loved it....totalled- rear-ended by a range rover doing 55..we walked away.

Side note, I find in hard to believe that at $2.39 a gallon vs. $5 in So cal+ and they need premium, so $5.50 a gallon that E85 is not an advantage.

Owners manual says 87 is fine. Says premium fuel rages from 87 +.

I had the owners man on my 2008 recommended premium but who knows but that’s pretty much what I ran it on based on the manual.
