Bullitt mustang (Steve Mcqueen) sold for 3.4 mil sold in 10 minutes.
the owner started the bid at $3500. which he says, when his dad bought it, $3500 was the opening bid. kind of cool. with in a minute it was up to 2.4 mil.

I just saw a small article on it, said the family had it stashed away since 1974, even some of their own family didn't know they had it. Said Steve tried to buy it from them.

bad ass car, it was beat up ,still sounded bad ass though.
I think it had only been sold twice before.
originally bought for $3500.
the son said " selling this car ,will be life changing. " somehow I don't disagree.

Last year, this 1936 Crocker sold for $825K:rolleyes: Even if I was a billionaire, I wouldn't pay these astronomical prices for one, no matter how rare.:p

I read the article. The father bought the car and the son inherited the car. The son sold it because it reminded him of his deceased father.

It was the fathers dream

If I had obscene, wipe my ass with 100$ bills, money...oh yeah, I'd buy one. The grandaddy of all superbikes. I'm pretty sure Crocker was the first to break 100mph...in the 20's:eek:
That's hardcore scary ass stuff with blacksmith technology!

My friends built an Excelsior from scratch using only blueprints.

Also, another local from Vancouver built this Matchless V-4 from scratch. I'd love to have any of these guys bikes that have personal connection with
Dan Smith motorcycle extraordinaire's Matchless> https://cdnbkr.ca/built-scratch-ajs-v4/

I don't have skills, or money. Working on the skills, but damn, that costs money:confused: In SoCal, in a non-descript block building, behind an equally non-descript business, there are two bikes I'd love to have: A Thor, original paint, and a '28 Harley, also original paint...what's left. First Harley to be ridden from New York to San Francisco...with documentation.

It's all about the chase scene. Mustang vs. Charger on the hills of San Franshitsco. 1968
It's the real deal car chase. No computer crap.

I have seen the chase scene online. Just never the movie itself so I have no idea why he’s being chased but he sure doesn’t want to get caught.:D

There were two cars that motivated me to buy seeing the movies. Movie #1 Bullitt, 68 Charger, dark green with black vinyl roof, movie #2 , Hemi Orange 72 Challenger after seeing 'Vanishing Point'.:) >

There is a simple solution to this question. I suggest to have good audio as part of the answer. That was all to be had back then. :D

https://www.streetmusclemag.com/fea...t-happened-to-the-vanishing-point-challenger/
Stephens comments on some of the controversy around the original Challengers from the original movie, “we have a reliable source that was at a salvage auction in Los Angeles in 1971, those five cars were sold for scrap. Every single one of them.”

Stephens added that if one did survive no one knows where it is and it would be impossible to trace.

So, one day it will miraculously appear like the Bullitt Mustang.;):)

If I remember correctly, the Challenger had a 440 Magnum in the original movie, unlike the 426 Hemi in the remake.
And, I also don't remember the car hitting the bulldozers. Must of been a 318 cheepie car to destroy, because the Hemi Challengers or Cudas were rare as a hen's teeth back then. I had to settle for the 340 version when I bought my 1972. Buddy had a Cuda triple black convertible 426 Hemi 4 spd, he wanted 15 grand for it. My 72 Challenger was $ 5400 out the door with options like the 340, 4 spd, sure grip diff, stereo cassette on the console with microphone with recording feature.Tires were still bias , F-70 14 that I quickly replaced it with new Manhandler radials after a 360 spin out disaster with the bias tires.:D Had that car for 8 yrs.If I could find it, I'd try buying it.;)

That was a 1969 Camaro with no motor. They ran a cable between the bulldozer blades and pulled it into the blades with one of the Challengers. You have to watch closely.
