Building Circle Boat and have questions

I'm wanting to build a circle race boat. I have an old Hallett long deck that needs to be gone through but it looks like most of the parts are there. A friend of mine told me to get in touch with Dave Simons here in San Diego county but I can't seem to locate him. Does anyone have a way to contact him or know others in north San Diego county that do this type of (hull) work?
Secondly, is the Hallet long deck a good boat for the nostalgia or pro stock class?

Is it a Hallett or a Barron Sprint? What year.

The registration says it is a 1971 18'2" Hallet so I don't believe it is a Sprint.

Well, I am looking forward to being a part of the discussion and fun over here...only reason I didn't join earlier was simply, TIME...so I have added this forum to my favorites and plan on checking in once and a while...as far as "Billy Bunch", I'll assume that is kinda a slam on one of my very best friends and some of the other guys I consider near and dear. So, don't know exactly how the comment was made, but I hope we can all get along and have some fun!

Hey Dave, sorry I missed meeting you a few weeks back when you had a few guys over for some "bench racing" on a Saturday. I told the wife what I was up to and she shut me down. Says that starting a new company and emptying the bank accounts and building a boat don't work and that I can only do one at a time.
So, I had to give up my job!!! yeah right

So, I will stay in touch as I get the green light to start the boat project.
