Well today is the day that they do the flexible bronchoscopy on me.

Doctors having a tough time finding out what causing this cough that have had for years. They prescribe asthma medicine and that works for awhile and then the cough comes back.

They took x-rays and a ct-scan which both came back clean.

The doctors are baffled and figure will try this procedure to see if anything maybe stuck down in the bronchial tubes.

They said they have seen peas, part of a bic pen and other stuff stuck down there which would cause the body to cough in hopes of eliminating it.

My appt is at noon so will be leaving shortly.

Rich,
Hope all goes well for you. :beer

My father-in-law had a cough for about a 1 1/2 yrs, they couldn't figure it out either until about a month or so ago. I'll ask her what they finally figured it was.

Wasnt as bad as thought it would be. The hardest part was getting through the pre-anesthetic spray going down the throat and in each nostril. That part took about 30 minutes and the actual bronchoscopy took about 10 minutes.

Wont know initial results of findings until next week and possibly final results in up to 6 weeks.

Extremely frustrating. When the cough gets real bad I start vomiting which is very embarrassing.

The doctor did say that my bronchial tubes were all swollen but not really sure what that means. He did take some samples and will get some results next Wednesday.

Ahhh yes, the Drip... I was going to mention this earlier today, but my attention got diverted by a phone call from the vet's office.

Nice to hear it didn't take too long and went well for you!

Im not sure if you will know but...when they do a Bronchoscopy do they just look in the primary bronchi or do they check the secondary bronchi's too?

If they went INTO your lungs then they went into the secondary bronchi!!

I know it sounds completely random, but have you had your heart checked? Reason being, some heart problems as well as some blood pressure medications can cause a chronic cough.

Yes, have had my heart checked. They are doing a biopsy and culture on some stuff they found in my tubes.

Well, some of the results of my cultures came in and everything is clear. The other ones wont be ready for 4-6 weeks. Frustrating not knowing what giving me this focking cough. When the cough gets bad enough the only thing that slows it down is vicodin.

And there a lot here in Santa Clarita. The doctor originally was thinking that I had valley fever but early tests determined that wasnt the case.

You would think would be having issues in Blythe with all that alfalfa (sp)

It means a lot to me that my little on-line community of friends here is so caring. Thanks everyone.

I guess you need to move to Blythe, get a place right on the water and then let me come visit every other weekend.:D

Seriously, I'm glad the first results came back clear, And I'm hoping they find what's causing your cough. I have a feeling it's going to be a long 4-6 weeks for you but hang in there.

I'm not sure could live there full time especially since no aircraft or aerospace companies in the area. I was glad to hear some of the results were clear but would have been nice to have something show up that would have been treatable.

One of those "good news, bad news" things!

Hopefully that will be the case in the next set of results....will keep checking up in hopes for a positive outcome, and an ANSWER!!!!
