That seems to be a courtesy that has been forgotten🤷🏻‍♂️

I have never drove a big rig for a living but.. Another that has been lost, is signaling with headlights for a Simi in front of you, that has its blinker on, that it's ok for lane change. If you do, you'll see their tail lights flash and a wave when you go by😉

And the proper way is to darken your headlights, not flash your high beams. Even the truckers have lost that art.

I have owned and driven a bunch of them and you are right but that was before all the truck driving schools started fast tracking anyone with a heartbeat. Most anymore do good just to get there without wrecking.

Say What ?
Where is this place on earth where truckers use their signals BEFORE they initiate the lane change ?
Usually, I see their turn signal come on when the prick has almost sawed the front of my truck off.

What I do commonly see is larger trucks driving for miles and miles with their flashers on, either just fucking with folks or unable to hear them over their blaring mariachi music. ;)

I certainly do however agree, when all drivers were more respectful and better trained, truckers and other vehicles did play better together and had developed means of using visual aids to communicate intentions, prior to initiating them, or to respond with a 'Thank You' after.
I still use those signals today as a show of respect if I've been afforded the same.

I do understand from the truck driver's perspective that pre-signaling invites others to race to close the gap.
But maybe if the truckers would pass each other at more than .5 mph, requiring miles to accomplish, they'd get more respect as well.
I dunno, respect is going the way of the Dodo. 😕

I assume that's why most flip their brights. It can be done, it takes effort. On mine there's a manual override for the auto headlights, then I manually turn the lights on, then I can drop them as needed. I really only do it when out on the road and not so much for commuting.

I wish I could manually turn mine on and off
