From what I read, the artist showed up with the stencils and 60 volunteers. As the people in the area heard about it, hundreds came out to get the whole thing done before the tide came in and washed it all away. It's pretty sad how we do not understand any of this anymore. How important these things are, and what is worth standing up for.

Possibly so...and it may not have even bothered me so much a year from now, or a year ago. Yesterday, shortly before reading the above, I saw that ANC had cancelled the "Wreaths Across America" at Arlington. Sighting health and safety...volunteers wearing masks, at a cemetery, were to be banned. Yet protesting is a protected "right". That, pissed me off. They made that proclamation Monday. Tuesday afternoon the President was said to have overturned the decision.
The meme above may have been one reconfigured to anger someone like me, and may be based on BS in some's eyes. The truth of the matter is there are powers at play, within our own government, that take no pride in what this country is or has done. Lately some folks don't need "fake" reasons to be angry. Lately some the truth seems to be doing a fine job of that.
