Looking to ski from January 2nd till January 6th and trying to get a ski in/out condo or house at Brian Head. Little late, so I know not a lot available. When looking on VRBO or ABNB, most places seem to be at least .5 miles walk, not great for lunch stops. Anyone know the resort and is that the closest you can get? I did check the resort and not available.

Just wondering, is going to Eagle Point an ok alternative, or stay at Brian Head? Driving from LA, so not wanting to go all the way to Salt Lake resorts.

Brian Head is great, but I'm not a baller and I just drive in from a hotel in Cedar City.

There are houses next to the slopes but I don't know if any are STR type places.

Enjoy!

if you are a skilled skier, you will hate BH. mostly intermediate and beginner terain.

Eagle point has much better terrain. as for accommodations, its not al that different than BH, other then being less crowded.

Ya, last time we went a few years ago, we stayed in Cedar City too. So definitely considering that again. Thanks.

I'm sure I would enjoy EP more, but does it have ok beginner and easier intermediate runs? Got three of our group are lower level skiers.

yes it has plenty of beginner and intermediate terrain. plus being much less crowded makes it less intimidating for entry leve skiers.

Booked one of the resort condos, looks to be right next to the main lift, definitely ski in/out and prices were pretty reasonable. Thanks for the feedback, helped.

its odd to me that eagle point isnt more popular. i guess what it is lacking is that "ski town" feel......where there are tons of after ski activities, restaurants, bars and so forth. Eagle point is very isolated and down the hill in Beaver there isnt anything going on either....... Not that Brain Head is much better in this regard.

Its ony a few more hours drive to Salt lake past Eagle point so maybe thats why many pass it by.

Until I read this thread I had no idea Eagle Point existed... LOL... They must not be part of "Big Ski". I had to do a quick Google search.

correct, eagle point is one of the few remaining ski areas privately owned, and not part of the corporate behemoths. when it opened in the 70's it was called Elk Meadows, was closed for about 10 years and reopened in the early 2000's as Eagle Point.

It doesn't look easy to get which can be an advantage or disadvantage. I'm guessing it's a big draw for the Salt Lake City crowd that wants to get away from Park City. Prices are cheap compared to the big resorts though and the lodging looks decent.

3 years ago, my wife and I AIR BNB's a pad in Brian Head over New Years Weekend. It was fricken SICK! Love it up there. We snowboarded 1 day and went snow mobiling the next. We got up there a few hours before a storm came in and DUMPED a shit ton of snow. Try Air BNB?

We love Brian Head. Normally rent out this place with the family. 2 stories plus a connecting basement is tough at 9000' though. We had one drop last year due to the altitude and head down to Vegas. https://www.vrbo.com/86247

Hey JAA,
Frequent Brian Head a lot when the Wifes parents had a condo.

The Condo is ski in ski out 100%, you walk to the first chair and let them know you are going to buy your passes on the way down.

not at all. the salt lake crowd has plenty of options if you dont want to go to park city or the cottonwooods. they have snowbasin, sundance and other resorts much closer than eagle point. for this reason eagle point has always been very low on crowds. for the CA and vegas skiers, Brian head is closer than eagle point.

also most of the hard core crowd in salt lake use season passing keeping them planted. eagle point is a great spot for just another 45 minute drive past Brian Head.

Thanks for the info. I did book our trip to Eagle Point, but what you listed is what I was looking for at BH, just couldn't find anything like it on ABNB or VRBO. Next time we head that way, I'll keep the info you posted!
