Search teams are combing a Texas lake for the body of a man who was allegedly shot and killed by Mexican pirates when he and his wife were ambushed after crossing into Mexican waters on their personal watercraft.

David Michael Hartley, 30, and his wife Tiffany Hartley, 29, were attacked on Falcon Lake, near the southern tip of Texas, police said.

Tiffany Hartley told police her husband was shot in the back of the head as the couple fled to U.S. waters.

The gunmen are suspected to be Mexican pirates who have been marauding on the lake, law enforcement officials said.

When are we going to take back our borders this is getting out of hand the drug cartels do what they wish its time to eliminate them wipe them off the face of the earth there was no reason for this death but a show of power.

Dam that's a bunch of Boo Chit. How many more US citizens need to die before this government does something.

I have a rental home in Douglas AZ. right on the boarder. Its not safe at night on the outskirts of town now. Kidnappings, Death threats are all part of living down there. Fuggen BS.

First death but it's been going on all year. They had a plot to blow the damn that was stopped in early summer. The cartels are running Mexico and it will get worse before it gets better I'm afraid.

Time to put some gunboats on the lake.

That sucks. For the last 13 years, I've gone to and camped once to twice a year for a couple days at Lake Amistad, also on the border, up the river by about 150 miles Lake Falcon. Last fall, we came across a few border jumpers too close to our camp in the middle of nowhere, without issue, changed everybodys mind about wanting to go back. Ironically, they were on the Texas side, trying to go back to Mexico, so they said.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I though it is legal in Texas to shoot to defend yourself? And marksmanship is compulsory education in primary school in Texas??? :p:cool: NO?

Seems like all you need is a good AR which I think is still legal in Texas and the problem is solved. :D

Now when that happens in Cali, we are fawked...:bash:

I am thinking we need to send some of the special forces and a few Apache choppers down there to finish up the drug war for them.

US citizens don't matter.
Taking action might offend the Mexican people, and impinge on their feelings as a sovereign nation.
And we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, now do we?

Mexico is going downhill fast.
There's already speculation - however remote - that the Mexican government may fail. Which would be a huge situation for US security.

We send special forces to re-take tankers that have been taken by pirates, we send troops to defend borders of other nations around the world. We cant even defend or secure our own border with Mexico.

Go down to this lake and the entire border and stop this crap. The politicians and the political parties dont want stop this becasue they will lose votes.

People..we have been sold out by our politicians becasue of votes.

Got a call from a friend yesterday as we were driving home from the river. He was about an hour behind us and had just been on a rural road that we use as a shortcut to and from highway 8 in Yuma where he got pulled over by a Border Patrol agent. After the officer had determined that my friend was not a threat, he chatted for a minute and told him that 80% of the illegal traffic in the area is human and drug trafficking, not illegal immigrant workers like the media likes to make people think. He said the gas cans in my friend's pickup were something that they are looking for recently as the Mexicans are using side-by-sides to run the drugs through the desert and washes more and more. This is obviously not surprising to most of us, but he also added that the toolbox in the bed of the truck was another tipoff since recently local farmers and seemingly legal farm workers have been found to be cooperating with the cartels and running drugs from the border in their trucks. He commended my friend on carrying his .45 with him in the truck and said that the border is so much more dangerous than people know.

Watch this turn out to be some kind of "wife kills husband for insurance money" deal.

Sucks either way for the poor bastard.

Why would anybody be recreating in them waters? The bullshit down there has been going on for a while now and has been well publishized.

How many of us would ride our bike thru any number of the ghetto's here in the good ol' USofA at midnight? Not much different if you ask me.

This is what I thought of too when I heard that they had been issuing security warnings on that lake recently.

Smuggling humans across the border for monetary gain, kidnappings, ect.

Jeebus...I figured that's what you were talking about when you posted "80% of the illegal traffic in the area is human and drug trafficking, not illegal immigrant workers" but sort of thought that those were isolated incidents. Never thought it would be so prevalent in 2010.

I just saw the wife/family on the Today show about a half hour ago.

To say it was sad was an understatement and now the Mexican's are saying it didn't even happen. WTF???

My question is WHY? What the hell would they want to shoot people riding jetski's

They had an artilce in Texas Monthly by a lady with social services that helps women smuggled in to be prostituted. My wife heard her speak locally to a ladies group. It was quite enlightening to what is really happening.

It was shockling at the number of massage/modeling and related businesses that use women from Mex, Central America, and the far east. They move them around cities and states throughout the country to keep them confused and hard to track. The women rarely make enough back to pay off the fees paid to get to the US and the "better life" promised by recruiters back "home". Many are forcefully addicted to drugs which makes them even more susceptible to staying "in the business".

Many bars/clubs that are hangouts for illegals here working construction and such, offer underaged and "captive" prostitutes. It's big big business in the sanctuary cities across the country and no doubt somebody is getting paid off to look the other way in many instances.

Slavery ain't dead in America and many illegals aren't here to mow grass.

And she admited they were well aware...

Tiffany Hartley, 29, said she and her husband, 30-year-old David Hartley, were aware of reports of shootings and piracy on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande-fed reservoir when they climbed aboard personal water craft Sept. 29 to explore a partially submerged church called Old Guerrero.

Another example of how our "leaders" in Washington, who insist that only they need authority over immigration, are simply ignoring US, the citizens of this great country.

How to stop the drug cartels? Easy! Stop this damn prohibition!

The prohibition against alcohol really got organized crime organized, mobsters rich, and we STILL have not been able to get rid of them.

The prohibition against drugs is doing the same damn thing: making violent criminals rich and powerful.

Getting high is victimless. Calling it a "victimless crime" seems inappropriate.

Why do we allow our leaders to enable this disaster?
