So right about the insurance. I made a conditional offer this morning (which is verbally accepted) and the seller is reaching out to his insurance company prior to a deposit to see if his policy can be transferred to me. I’m of course going to get a survey anyway but, from prior experience, I know they are pretty exacting.. I don’t want to wait for weeks during the contract period, for insurance, over a minor issue if one develops. Major issue would grenade the deal regardless. Some of the insurance providers are backing away from insuring them as well...without a survey. There was a thread post on it last year regarding foremost that I copy pasted from a notice from them.
Cash is really only a benefit IMO on speeding up the transaction...a lot of "nice" or "expensive boats" are owned outright by people...and if they aren't desperate to make a payment there isn't going to be a fire sale so to speak. A lot of the new deck boats are $30-50k more new than they were 2 years ago...so a 2-5 year old boat hasn't taken much if any hit, and hell it may sell for more than it did new.
The 10+ year old stuff though for a cash buyer is not a bad spot to be in if it’s what you are after...deals will pop up.
I was under contract for months on an older Skater in Florida. It fell through because the issues identified by survey couldn’t be addressed due to the hurricane. Qualified folks were too busy and the seller was swapped with work and other matters.
So I’ve been looking again for the last few weeks and am finding that there are no real killer deals out there however, there are reasonable ones within the realm I’m looking. I’ve dropped the idea of getting a cat and am now looking at very clean closed bows with staggered big block blue motors and XR drives or better.
Im getting real close again and hope to have something under contract in the next week or two.
As always a cash purchase gives you a leg up. Two separate Brokers told me lenders are no longer financing anything older than 10 years, period. Since I’m looking at 2004 to 2012 boats, I benefit from the reduced buyers pool as well.
I remain optimistic..
Huge opportunity for someone to come in and offer financing for those boats and make a killing. The financing thing is gonna tank used boat prices for boats older than 10 years. It’s very real and a lot of people are talking about it
Sat in a nearly 3 hour conference call this morning about financing, appetite for buyers of paper etc. I don't that is going to be high on many peoples radar..its just not a good asset class.....especially with the car loan industry starting to take a bath. I just don't see the appetite for it. Maybe a small regional bank...but those are few and far between anymore. Hell even Mohave/Foothills is not local..its glacier out of Montana. Their lending department has tightened up a lot as well.. It's going to cause a shift.Huge opportunity for someone to come in and offer financing for those boats and make a killing.
Not unless they are their own bank.Wozencraft is still financing older boats unless I missed something
They have to sell that paper to someone...they are just a broker from my understanding just like on insurance.Wozencraft is still financing older boats unless I missed something

agreed...That’s what I mean.. I know a couple members here that are already working in this space.
Huge opportunity for small players to make some money. Over 10 year old boats change hands constantly in the tri state area. Rates will be high because there are few games in town, and the only other option is to get in line for a boat costing twice as much.
I wonder how long will banks hold off on loaning to riskier paper? They will have too to make money or I guess wait for another gov payout to keep afloat when not loaning $$$.Sat in a nearly 3 hour conference call this morning about financing, appetite for buyers of paper etc. I don't that is going to be high on many peoples radar..its just not a good asset class.....especially with the car loan industry starting to take a bath. I received a report of just shy of 200 banks this morning...not failing yet..but teetering. I've spent all day going through it among other things... Some crazy times ahead.I wonder how long will banks hold off on loaning to riskier paper? They will have too to make money or I guess wait for another gov payout to keep afloat when not loaning $$$.
On the other side, we don’t know how many banks are failing besides the ones we know of.
Can’t wait to hear the details. Potential congrats! So right about the insurance. Before I bought ours I couldn't even get dealers to respond. Now almost a year later they are calling with "blowout" specials.
I went thru 20 pages of Bennington’s yesterday online.
Went to Sun Country a couple of weeks ago in Havasu and they are sitting on a ton of new inventory. They are having a hard time getting trailers, but they definitely don't have a boat shortage. They actually had a one day sale on Benningtons. Maybe the supply issues are turning around. Before I bought ours I couldn't even get dealers to respond. Doesn’t matter to the members of RDP, everybody here is rich and pays CASH! Sorry, had to do it…Wozencraft like many others are basically brokers..
The actual lenders are what changed. Jody sent me this the other day.
“So new rules April 1st are that Flagstar Bank will no longer lend for Marine and RV they are closing their lending portfolio. Not an April fools joke. What does this mean for all of us in the performance market? Flagstar is only lender that will finance performance boats older than 10 model years of age. With them being out we will only be able to finance 2013 and newer. Bad news for everyone”
I wonder what Adrenaline would charge for a trailerWent to Sun Country a couple of weeks ago in Havasu and they are sitting on a ton of new inventory. Well there goes my plan on financing a mach 26 for 45 years
While we are on the topic, what is the preferred credit union you all refer every time someone wants an old diesel pusher or boat loan? Country somethin
I wonder what Adrenaline would charge for a trailer
Whoever told you that was flat out wrong. I just did a 2003 custom boat for a client for 15yrs. Those brokers are missing out on a lot of business.
just looked at new toon prices. HOLY SHIT. The average family is priced out. I knew they were up there, but never really paid attention.

There is nothing worth anything on the market it’s all junkInventory on used boats has rally picked up this month. Sellers are still asking big bucks mostly, but I have a feeling the bloodbath is coming.
they are 350 and up!People were giving me shit for selling my for 245'sh on here... Go price them.. I'm still getting a lot of calls on it and people bummed they couldn't buy it at that price.
RD

Is it worth 209k though I see 100k maybe 150I believe that is T Stones old boat. Thing is super clean In person runs hard.
I think it’ll fetch close to that. I think he sold it for 239???Is it worth 209k though I see 100k maybe 150
The new 33' they had at Eliminator for open house was very nice. But a friend told me $750K price tag! Not confirmed but he is building a similar boat. So he would be in tune with current price. Is it worth 209k though I see 100k maybe 150
Seriously? That pricing is higher than dcb?The new 33' they had at Eliminator for open house was very nice. But a friend told me $750K price tag! Not confirmed but he is building a similar boat. So he would be in tune with current price.
That's just what I heard not confirmed. It blew away the used 1 they had in showroom and it was 400k. But larger.Seriously? That pricing is higher than dcb?
This was who I have heard about as well. I have heard great things. Who I will use in the future.America First CU is who I use. They will loan on anything no matter the age as long as it books on NADA. They can usually wrap up a loan in a couple days, with no survey. The guys selling loans that aren’t a bank take 2/3 weeks, a survey, a fuck ton of paperwork, and they are making money along with everyone in the chain. I’ve been offered kick backs from a couple that are listed here. I don’t think you’re getting the best deal when three people are getting paid to sell you a loan and it takes three weeks to close.![]()
Damn that’s wild. Good for them. That's just what I heard not confirmed. It blew away the used 1 they had in showroom and it was 400k. But larger.
