I think the website is called uship.com ? I would definitely have it shrink wrapped, and if possible have a shop on the other side run antifreeze through the cooling system or winterize it for the journey.

Thanks Dave. This particular boat is a "project",, no engine to freeze (I imagine I can cobble an engine together for it).

I am still debating if I can afford (I actually know that I can not)to be messing with a boat at all right now. This one will make an interesting story if I do happen to be able to get it.

Is it the Rayson 21', if so it is a steal at that price. Check with Mouser, he might know someone, I think he has u-ship in the past.

Its hard to give a good price unless it is a backhaul depending where it is also. U-ship is ok, but be very careful. I have heard some horror stories. Its kinda, you get what you pay for. If its a no hurry deal I may be able to help when an east coast trip comes up.

Thanks,, the guy said he could store it for a couple of weeks, but that he was looking for the space so don't know how much longer.

If you need one more. call Mike. Him and his son are just good people. He will go get anything you want. The boat on his web page is one of my river boats. He moves it from storage to the water all the time.:thumbsup

I did take the time to call him,, sounds like a great guy, discussed a couple of options. He said without a backhaul it would be expensive, and he also suggested checking uship but being "careful"

Thinking about this a lil more..... It's a project boat with no motor right? I can't imagine uship douches fuckin it up to bad. Now uship for a m31? Ummmmm NO! :p

Where is the boat? What condition is the trailer? I might have a load of carts going east at Xmas and MIGHT be able to help headed back towards west coast.

Last April, I had my 36? Concept shipped from Florida, I tried Uship but got the run around with some dickheads.

I ended up meeting an older retired guy while at from Concept Boats in Fl.. I also posted on OSO under Transportation any boats that needed going from west coast to east coast. I was able to hookup my guy with two other boats going from Ca to Ny then from Georgia to Fl. It took about a week to put everybody together. I paid him a dollar a mile, and he was happy to have something to do.

I would suggest calling Boat yards and Boat Mfg?s on both coasts to get the ball rolling, they will know someone that knows someone looking for work. Some advice would be to insure the Boat for at least some dollar amount, I had full coverage on my new Boat before it left the Factory, I was able to sleep at night after having a Policy.

Good luck !!!

I have used USHIP three times....first time was a bit of a horror story but partly a lil bit my fault as well....shitty trailer that started to fall apart in Maryland...the next two times no issues.

Basically, I will put a bid out and a get a sense of what people will do it for and then I will update the bid and set a fixed a lil lower than the lowest bidder...its interesting how hungry folks are for the work...you will get bites. Do research on those biting...and pick one.

Whats a fair price to have a boat transported from Long Island NY to the west coast? Is it by the mile or what?
