I have a "new to me" new boat. A 1987 26' Caribbean daycruiser. 454 Alpha config. Nothing compared to the radical crafts that I see here on this forum :) But I'm looking for a good trustworthy shop to have general maintenance done.

Tow a few extra miles to WOT in Carlsbad or over the hill to Temecula Speed & Marine.

A google search revealed M&M but it's a solid 45 minute drive from me pulling the boat. I did see Extreme Custom Marine in Santa Ana, which considerably closer. Wasn't sure if anybody had used them. They've got pretty high end stuff on their website. They'd probably laugh at my daycruiser if I brought it in :)

I don't know of any, but there are a few around SoCal that are highly recommended on here & several in Havasu. Do you plan on using the boat in the salt?

It will see the salt occasionally. Maybe 5 times a year... Xmas parade in Newport and Long Beach, and then a couple other random trips to cruise in the harbor.

I drove my fishing boat all the way down to WOT Marine in Carlsbad (I live next to LAX in Westchester) and they did a excellent job getting it to run without any issues! Well worth the drive!:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

I drive 75 miles to my boat mechanic of choice. Welcome to boating. Save a buck here, waste a weekend and the money associated with a trip if you choose improperly. I have a buddy that hasn't even gotten on the water this year because his mechanic sucks and he won't listen to anyone else.

Don't pass up Extreme Custom Marine in Santa Ana -- Paul Huddleston is the owner/operator of the shop and a top notch mechanic with years of experience. Very honest and fair pricing for quality work. He used to do a lot of the dry land inspections back in the day when Hot Boat Magazine was doing boat tests.

I take mine to Jim Wilkes, he's off dyer and the 55 in Santa Ana. Around the corner form a good prop guy too, oggie's with cutting propellers.
