I always can gauge the economy by the amount of new toys people are buying and the price of used boats. I guess people are hoping for the summer to still be "open", and are holding on to summer toys right now. I don't see anyone dumping just yet. Curious on how this is going to pan out.

Give it time. We are in first inning of a double header.

Agreed. I'm guessing that nothing is moving now due to shelter in place. The second inning will happen due to economic issues. It will be interesting to see which segments of the boat market get hit first.

Economy has been booming for 3 years. Both mine are paid for and the cost to own is minimal. I
Trucks cost 10x more to own even though there paid off also. Thinking of selling 1 work truck ax they cost over $3000 a year in insurance and registration. My red boat is $325 in comparison.

You might see more higher end ones popping up and ones that have loans for sale, but not your 40-50k and under boats that are typically paid for.

i think it would be interesting to see how many 40-50k boats have 10 year loans on them. A like $200-300/mo payment might not be too back breaking for some during this time.

Maybe I can buy a 25 Daytona at a nice discount with all the money I’ll be able to save on a house in the next year or two lol

It may be a mix. I was surprised to see the past few years the availability of financing for the 40-50k boats and toys. Those people tend to be the ones this may hit harder. (I know, I've been there) I don't really know, but it will be interesting to see what comes up. I still won't have the coin for a baller deck boat...unless it's been stripped for parts at auction.

Whether it happens or not, it’s not gonna happen for 90 days or more. Banks have deferred payments where people are going to wait it out.

This. We are 6 weeks in. We won't really know the true situation until we start opening back up in the next 6 weeks and see how many people actually have jobs to go back to.

What brand and power is this boat?

1990 Howard 21 River Custom. 454 HO with Bravo 1. It's got a cam and roller rockers. Imco Power Flow + exhaust. 175 original hours. Hull is almost perfect shape. Really nice boat you can just go out and have a good time in. I can send tons on pics and video via text. Corey 714-658-6291 Located in Scottsdale but I can do a drop off in Parker or Havasu.

its gonna take awhile till banks start the repo process of houses and toys then the prices fall. Look at how many $12k-$15K toyhaulers are still out there that cost $70k new. Traditional RVs held their value because they were typically bought by older folks that werent leveraged to buy them.

I didn’t quite understand that deferred payment thing..

Do they just stack them at the end of the loan? Or when you pu the payment you have to pay all the payments you deferred at once?

There are various option. They can stack them on the end. They can have them due within one year from the time deferred. They can forgive them. There's various types for forebearance.

Ultimately, if the boat or toy isn't costing people an outflow of cash, they're not going to fire sale it until it does.

I have seen some prices go down at the dealerships I watch, but nothing drastic. It seems like inventory is not moving like it was though. I am watching the same boats week after week.

Thinking of putting my 07 Playcraft Extreme on the market. Any recommendations for consignment in town (Havasu). It is stored in town so figure it is easier to have someone sell it and be done with it. Want to make way for something like a conquest.

I’ll sell you one! Just saw it for the first time today after a big $ refresh at Eliminator. I’m in Havasu for a couple days if you’d like to see it.

Interior, controls, gel refresh, glass work in the boat (eliminated ski locker, and hallway step), lights, Gator Step, Fack the list goes on!!!!! It got powerheads last year as well as gear case rebuilds. It is as close to a new WTOB as you’ll get for half the price!

And brand new CNC props as well! View attachment 866756

It seams to me the toon market here in TN has come down a little. Just seams more inventory in my price range than before. It could be just because it is spring and more are for sale. I do not know, but I am glad to see it. I thought I was going to have to increase my budget to get what I want.

That is a ton of work to turn around and sell it. Good luck with the sale I’m sure it won’t last long👍

So my boat is scheduled to go to Alexi in November. I have daily thoughts that if the market tanks I should just sell mine, take what I'll spend on mine this winter, buy a new to me boat and come out ahead on the deal. Granted this assumes I can get decent money for my current boat which is a Huge IF.

I don't think boat prices are going to drop because this bullshit is almost over.

^^^ Almost over where? This opening is going to be slow walked across the country, and even more so in some states. I want it to over quickly, but I don't think it's going to be as fast as some think.

just glad , everyone thinks, when everything reopens, nothing was affected. things will be back to normal, in matter of months.
I'm thinking, the carnage, from this devastation, has no bounds.
but if you can get good money, right now. sell, sell, sell.
hope I'm wrong.
