If it’s a high performance boat with bigger power, get ahead of it early. The market isn’t like it use to be and, costs have gone up considerably.

Wozencraft was able to help me out and I’d recommend giving them a call.

If it’s a high performance boat with big power, don’t be shocked if you can’t get anyone to cover it. I’ve been turned down by everyone, even Wozencraft and I’m under 1000hp.
Staggered 700s with number 6s and I made the cut but it wasn’t cheap..

I just went with a broker named Roamley , found online , they wrote it through progressive. Funny thing is , when I went directly to progressive , they were about $300 more , same coverage . Ahoy! Is another . Just type in 1 online and you’ll get 10 pop up

Brad Stern insures everything of mine including the new boat 1420HP. Brad 949-632-4500.

Also an advertiser (one that pays his bills), and a sponsor of pretty much all of the rdp events.

Thanks Dave.

Been a while since I was in the insurance game, and I specifically steered away from boats, to my memory most companies have a HP/ft calculation where they will no longer play ball. Meaning, 1420hp in Dave's new 335 will be viewed very differently than 1420hp in a 21rc.

Oh and I also paid my bills to RD 😁

Martha and Kathryn in the office are great… they do my boat, snowmobiles, and trailers. Super industry knowledgeable and unlike others that may or may not have been mentioned they answer the phone or call you back asap….unlike some others which do not..

I called Brad and talked to him several months ago. He told since I had been with foremost for the last 10 years, there was nothing he could do for me. Foremost was gonna be the best deal.

Move ahead 6 months.. a couple weeks ago I got my renewal from foremost and it was over $500 cheaper than last year 😳😳. Same coverage.

I wouldn’t lol signed up with them and they sent me to collections. I even gave them the signed authorization to debit my bank account with plenty of money in it. They were a pain in the ass to get it fixed. Said I had to fax proof that I provided everything. Lol I did when I signed up. State Farm has been good but I am unsure about high horsepower

I get a email every year before auto renewal then April follows up with a call usually no issues here.

I had the complete opposite experience with them (Wozencraft) lol. But I’m also under 1k HP and not a high performance boat. I was on and off the phone with them in 20 mins, and an hour later it was through underwriting, paid in full for the year, and had my binder in my email.

I hope I don’t have your experience when it comes time to renew. 🙈

Because of this thread, I asked my wife if I had boat insurance on my ski boat. I didn’t remember paying the bill. Looked it up and no insurance for the last year and a half. Called up the insurance company and they gave me insurance and it’s Was cheap. As far as my flatbottom never have been able to get insurance on It.

I just received notice from my Farmers / Foremost agent that they would not be renewing. He recommended an AZ agent who could, but was at a higher rate. I called this State Farm agent who was referred by another boating buddy, glad I called. $898 for $125k ACV, 2016 Shockwave 26 Cat w/600 SCI. Just needed an AZ “stored” address. I do have AZ reg, not sure if that was a must.

Gisela had me off the phone in 10-15 minutes and email followed with the binder. Just have your VIN’s handy.

Are you at liberty to say what you paid for the insurance? Curious what others are paying for twins In this (cumulative) HP range.

I’m a little pissed that Brad wouldn’t insure my boat under 1000hp single engine but if you have twin engines with a cumulative hp over 1000, that works.

We closed the deal on an 07 38 Fountain with staggered 700s. It’s being picked up later today in Florida. Insurance was $3775 for the year. The most I've every paid to insure anything, ever. Truly curious if others are likewise paying similar rates on a V bottom with equivalent power.

I had Nikki Bostick's office do my 26 Force. Boats were being handled by Martha, ended up being insured through farmers/foremost. Needed a driver resume and a letter from a manufacturer saying hull was good for horsepower (im told some of the manufacturers like eliminator publish this model info so it may not be necessary to get a letter but it was for me) and hull/vin#. Would recommend.

I just wanted to follow up on your post. Since you gave their contact info I reached out and they had insurance for me in a day for my boat and trailer.

So very happy with them and I’d recommend them.

I also mentioned I’d seen their info on RDP so not sure if that helped.

So, despite the result of the last post, apparently the underwriter researched the Teague engine and determined that Teague only makes engines for high performance boats, which makes me a high performance boat, and therefore ineligible for coverage. They cancelled the insurance they had just issued.

So back to square one. And I’m not even a catamaran.

Had the same problems with the 700s and number 6s. Wozzencraft came through but it was not cheap.

I had Merkel for years and they even insured the cat I had. No more. Seems to me the market has gotten tougher..
