I want to replace the original fuel line in my boat as preventative maintenance before this season starts. The current fuel line is marked MULTIFORM SAE J1527 U.S.G.C. TYPE A1-1988. I'm finding the SAE J1527 TYPE A1-15 is very common but the prices vary drastically, I'm seeing a range of $2/foot up to $10/foot for what looks like the same thing. Is this fuel line the same stuff everywhere as long as it meets the SAE J1527 specification or are certain manufactures better than others because they surpass the specification? I run the standard California E10 pump gas in the boat.

You are wise to do this. I am pretty anal on maintenance, doesn't matter how nice they look on the outside. The alcohol kills them. My ten year old hoses were coming apart on the inside when I changed them.

If that's the stuff I'm thinking of, it's got a wall thickness about double that of standard fuel hose, and it pretty much apocalypse proof. I have some that has been in use for at least 20 years that's still in excellent condition. The thin wall shit they sell everywhere as marine grade ethanol safe is lucky to make it a season or 2. Avoid anything grey colored.

I replaced my fuel lines last year. Started having issues related to the fuel system., AGAIN. Talked with the Guys at Mesa Hose & Adapters. Found out my hose was breaking down from the inside out. There was a combo of marine grade fuel hoses, grey & black on the engine. They hooked me up with a Marine grade hose that is ethanol resistant.
